Possible problem with using a GC game's Rumble Feature on the Wii

Hi guys,

Recently a few days ago I noticed a strange problem when I was playing Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on the Nintendo Wii, when you're in a dungeon, pressing Up on the D-Pad to try to view the different floors of the dungeon causes the game to crash, seemingly only if you have the Rumble Feature on for the GameCube controller.  Just curious, but has this happened to anyone else here who has played Wind Waker on the Wii?

This problem doesn't seem to happen though when outside and viewing the map of the Great Sea, but just wondering here, has anyone experienced an occasional crash with a GameCube game when playing it with the Rumble Feature on?

Earlier in the week I had been talking to James0x57 about the problem and assumed the problem happens for the same reason that sometimes causes the CE edition of Majora's Mask to crash if the Rumble Feature is used in that game...when you're playing a GameCube game on the Wii, is the Wii emulating the GameCube?, e.g. in comparing certain GameCube game addresses, is it possible that some of them will be different if playing the same game on the Wii instead?

Why don't you try starting wind Waker with no codes on and see if you get that crash.
I'll bet you don't..

You wouldn't be using a cMIOS, would you?  I vaguely recall reading that because of some minor differences between GameCube and Wii, MIOS has to patch some games to run properly on Wii, and I think your problem was mentioned as something that MIOS patched.  If you're using a cMIOS, e.g. because you have GeckoOS Mod installed, those patches are likely not executed.  I think the latest Neogamma has a way to do the patching even with a cMIOS.  Look for a feature called "patched MIOS".  I'm not certain if I'm allowed to link to Neogamma here, as it is frequently used to launch backups.

Hope this helps.  Or, I could be totally wrong.  I take no responsibility if you end up wasting 30 minutes by following my advice.
