Got a PAL Wii

Just borrowed a copy of SSB but an NTSC version.

Put it in and said something about an update.

Remembered something about bricking it if you had an ntsc update on a pal wii.

Is that true, whats the go with using this NTSC on my wii.

Naraku2000

I once accidently updated an NTSC update on my PAL Wii (the Update sent with SSBB), it didn't brick anything at all. it just stopped, showed me some Error message, said that the Wii should be shut down and that was practically all. Maybe I was just lucky though, I don't know how many people experienced destroying their Firmware with wrong updates.

If you use Freeloader just insert the Freeloader twice before starting SSBB... if using Gecko OS you don't have to update anything at all as the Wii doesn't even ask. If you got nothing at all to play NTSC-SSBB on a PAL-Wii, let it be. simply as that.

Your best bet is to update your wii from the internet and not disc either way. If a game asks for an update, reset the console, go into your Wii Settings, and do a manual update if you can. As long as the update is available for your region it wont ask to update, and if it does, it wont do anything but check.

Use Gecko OS or Freeloader.
They bypass Firmware Updates.
