This is a guide for the average joe who wants to hack his town and make it his dream. He knows not much about electronics and always follows guides, for everything. If you are that average joe, then you are in luck. This guide will show you how to set up the HBC, install the required programs, and what not.

1: What do I need to do this?
1. SD Card (2 Gigabytes or less) 4 and up will be an SDHC Card, which Save Extractor/Installer does not support.
2. Nintendo Wii (Duh)
3. Animal Crossing: City Folk OR Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City (Depending on your region)
4. An Internet Connection and a computer that has an SD Card Slot
5. (Optional) If your computer does not have an SD Card slot, you can pick up an SD Card reader for less than 15 dollars.
6. The Homebrew Channel (I will tell you how to get it)
7. Save Extractor and Save Installer
8. Homebrew Manager
9. WinRAR
10. Patience

Part 2: Setting up the Homebrew Channel
If your Wii is version 4.1 or higher, I would recommend using bannerbomb, an easy way to put the Homebrew Channel onto your Wii.

First, download bannerbomb. Then, extract the folders in the .RAR file to your SD Card. Insert your SD Card into your wii. If your wii is version 4.1 or above, you will see a small SD card in the bottom left corner. Click on it with your wii remote, and a dialog box will pop up. Click continue or accept on whatever appears. It will make you wait, and then it will say it is done! VOILA! The first step is done! You now have the Homebrew Channel successfully installed on your wii! No need for Twighlight Princess or hacked saves or anything!

Part 2: Installing the Necessary Applications

To extract your saved game onto your SD Card, you are going to need 2 applications called Save Extractor and Save Installer. I recommend using the Homebrew Browser to download them, because it is an easy way for non-technical people to get homebrew applications without having to deal with file locations and what not. First, on the root of your SD Card, create a folder called "apps". Then, download the Homebrew Browser application, and extract is from the .RAR file if needed. Put that folder inside the apps folder on the root of your SD Card. Then, insert your SD Card into your wii and open the homebrew channel. If you did this correct, you should say a bar that says Homebrew Browser. Open it and it will install a few things. Don't worry, none of this will harm your wii. After it is finished, it may ask you to restart your wii. Do so if you are asked. If not, your screen will go to the Homebrew Browser. Click UTILITIES which is one of the 4 bars on the top of the screen.

Then, use your nunchuck to scroll down to until you see the letter "S". Look until you see save extractor and save installer. Click on them and press DOWNLOAD. They will each download extremely fast depending on your internet connection. After you download those, you can delete the homebrew browser if you want to.

Part 3: Extracting the Save

To edit your town, you are going to need to extract the save onto your computer. To do that, first, go to the homebrew channel, and if you are following this guide, you will see the Save Extractor and Save Installer applications on your screen. Click on "Save Extractor". Note: YOU MUST use a gamecube controller for this! If you do not have one, borrow one from a friend or buy one for around 15 dollars. It will ask you to insert your game and press A. Insert Animal Crossing: City Folk or Animal Crossing: Let's go to the City and press A on your gamecube controller. It will say finished, and you can now remove your SD card from the wii and turn off your wii.

Note: You may hear your wii spinning faster than normal.

Part 4: Editing your Town

Now that you have your save file on your SD Card, you are now ready to edit your town! You may be thinking: "Finally, we are getting to the fun part." You are completely wrong about that. This may be a quite boring part. Anyways, in the root of your SD Card, you will now see a folder called "WIISAVES". Be SURE to make a copy and place it on your desktop or somewhere you will remember. In case you corrupt your save, you will always have a backup. (You probably won't corrupt your save, I've done this many times.)

Now, you will need to download AC (Animal Crossing) Toolkit v1.3. After you have downloaded it, extract the winRAR to your desktop. You will have an icon that says "AC Toolkit". Double-Click on that icon. After that, it will require you to find your save file. So, click My Computer (If your in windows xp) and then the drive that has your SD Card plugged into it. In my case, it's removable disk drive: (D:). Click on it and open the WIISAVES folder. There will be another folder called RUUEE. Open that, and double click on RVFOREST.dat.

Now, a box will appear with various things on it. It has pockets, emotions, drawers, and appearance. You have to be stupid to not know what they do. You can change your settings around all you want, but that is not what this guide is about.

After you have fiddled with the settings, click (At the top)
Town -> Edit Town

Now this is where it gets tricky, and boring. If you want to remove something, click (At the top) Tasks -> Remove all Terrain. It will remove trees, flowers, rocks, patterns, and it will restore all grass. Now click the PLACE button and on the sidebar, there will be drop down lists of every item, tree, rock, and etc. Add what ever you want to your hearts delight. But be sure not to place anything in a bad spot, like a tree in the middle of a house or such. After you have finished that, close that window, and press FILE -> SAVE.

Part 6: Installing The New Save Onto Your Wii

Now that you have saved and edited the town on your SD Card, put your SD Card back into your wii and load up the Homebrew Channel. At the Homebrew Channel, select and load up the Save Installer application. Again, it will require you to use your gamecube controller. Be sure to follow the onscreen directions, which will be, PRESS A TO INSTALL SAVE. It will install your new, hacked save, overwriting your old save. (This is why we backed up your old save on the computer) Make sure everything is in the right place, no houses on top of able sisters, and such. If everything if correct, good job.
