The USB Gecko uses an FTDI chip (I believe it is the FT 245R, a USB FIFO).

Windows Update does not usually have the latest driver.  The latest FTDI drivers are available from the manufacturer's website.  http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm

As of this posting, 2.08.17 Beta Version is the latest release.
