Title: Gecko OS 1.9.3.1 Error Loading Channels
Post by: simalexander on May 04, 2013, 06:30:16 PM
I have System Menu 4.1U and my IOS36 is fully patched using the Trucha Bug Restorer. It can still load disc channels. All my channels were downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel. The error happens after going to load channels and selecting one of my games. This problem has happened to someone else before and James0x57 suggested using Gecko OS r12. So will using Gecko OS r12 solve this or not? Whatever the solution may be can you please help me?  Thanks a lot!

Your system menu is a little old.  But I doubt that's the problem.  Still, it might not be a bad idea to make sure you're on the latest HBC and then update the system menu normally.

Regarding IOS36, is it the latest version of IOS36 and patched with only the sign bug, and not some nasty cIOS mish-mash of IOS's?

If Gecko OS is showing the option to load channels, then your IOS36 should be patched correctly.  Any problem with loading the channels makes me think that you may have done something else to IOS36 before patching it.

No I didn't do anything else to IOS36 before patching I don't think. All I know is that this happened after I formatted my Wii's nand then using bannerbomb to re-hack my Wii then using Miiexpress to install the proper wads.

The "proper wads"?  You might want to be more specific.  Because a freshly formatted Wii, hacked with Bannerbomb, latest HBC, patched IOS36, and Gecko OS should not have problems.  Makes me think one of your wads might be responsible.

Wow, that looks like a mess.  I don't think there's any reason you should need to install all those wads.

You do not have a base IOS36.  You have a cIOS for IOS36.  2-cIOS36-v61234.wad  My guess is that's your problem.  Get a vanilla IOS36 and patch it according to these instructions "Patching IOS36".  http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,6843.msg59073.html#msg59073

I did what you said I patched IOS36 using the Simple IOS Patcher and still got the same message.

No, that's not what I said.  You don't have a base IOS36.  Your IOS36 is some bastardized hacked up mix-and-matched abomination.  You need to get the latest official IOS36 directly from Nintendo's Update Servers.  Then install and patch *that*.

EDIT:

As a general rule, you do not want to have a cIOS for any IOS that is less than 200.  So cIOS236 is okay.  cIOS16 and cIOS36 are not okay.  Making the known system IOS into cIOS can cause all kinds of headaches.

I did get the latest one from Nintendo's Update servers using Nus Downloader and I installed it using Wad Manager. The problem is though I can't patch it using Simple IOS Patcher because when I say load from SD card it looks for this wad:  IOS36-64-v3351.wad when the latest one is this one: IOS36-64-v3608.wad. So what do I do now since Simple IOS patcher can't use the latest IOS36?

hmm, you may need a different tool to patch it.  Or you could download the older version of IOS36.  Wait, that might not be a good idea, I'm not entirely sure.

Hmm.  You could try Multi Mod Manager?  I don't know, it's been so long since I did Wii stuff.  There must be some tool for patching IOS36.  Perhaps DOP-Mii v13 would work?  (v14 removed patching x.x)

I used WiiMod 3.2 to install the latest version of IOS36 and I patched it with Patch ES_Identify but when I did that the Launch Channel option disappeared. Luckily I have a nand backup that still has the option there though it doesn't work though. Wii Mod 3.2 is similar to Multi Mod Manager.

I think there are one or two other patches beside ES_Identify that are needed for Gecko OS.

Like what other patches because this tutorial here: http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,6843.msg59073.html#msg59073 told only to install that patch.

I can't remember what the other patches are called.  Trucha bug restorer would have listed three or four of them.

EDIT: I think the one is the NAND patch.  Basically, apply any and all patches that you can to a vanilla IOS36, but don't install a cIOS as that's far more than just patching a few exploits

I did it but for some reason I can't install the Fakesign Trucha Bug on IOS36. I do have a nand backup of my wii before it was hacked. The System Menu is still the same 4.1U. From there I could hack my Wii again using Bannerbomb and you could tell me what wads from the list I told you I installed on my Wii which ones I should install and ones I don't need to install. Would that be a good move?
