Title: Forum update Post by: Link on December 02, 2010, 05:07:31 AM Expect some offline time on the week-end (geckocodes.org will not be affected of course)!
Main reason is: normally I used the official upgrader by SMF which would upgrade safely while the forum is running. However, in the past, this forum used very many addons, like YouTube addons and everything. Due to attacks, deleting, reenabling, installing language packs, uninstalling, enabling attachments, disabling, using web upgraders and blablabla - right now activating addons, reactivatng attachments and related stuff just does not work anymore - I could imagine a direct upgrade wouldn't work either. The database however, seems intact. On Saturday I will run backups of the forum and reinstall it with the existing database - that way it would be made sure that the forum files are completely original and unmodified so hopefully - reactivating addons.. and also activating the YouTube plug-in would work again! Title: Re: Forum update Post by: James0x57 on December 02, 2010, 06:26:06 AM Thank you for your dedication to making the forums available and secure.
Much appreciation mate =) Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Link on December 04, 2010, 01:55:53 PM So well.. we are on 1.1.12 - some minor fixes to change (like readding Geckocodes.org link above) but well..
Unfortunately the thank-o-matic addon is BROKEN in that version so you cannot thank people for their posts.. existing thanks are stored though, they should return shortly! Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Thomas83Lin on December 04, 2010, 08:11:31 PM oh no, My Thank you button is broken.lol, anyways glad the update went smoothly i didn't even notice :)

Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Link on December 05, 2010, 06:59:47 AM thanks. the update didn't take that long. :) Its now wiird "forum" and not "community" or "forums", in case people didn't notice. Whoops.. true, the Settings.php had to be remade and I copied data incorrectly ^^ Title: Re: Forum update Post by: wiiztec on December 09, 2010, 12:56:08 PM So thank you posts is gone? if it ever gets reinstalled will the thank you posts be intact?
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Link on December 09, 2010, 05:48:09 PM So thank you posts is gone? if it ever gets reinstalled will the thank you posts be intact? Actually, it should, the database entries for thankyous are still there.. I just hope Thank-o-Matic will get updated... I check every 2 or 3 days right now. Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Link on December 10, 2010, 05:42:07 AM Thanks for the note.. I tested mail sending during the upgrade and it worked.. I must have broken it.. so well.. consequences taken.. it works again, and I activated all pending members.. and they got a mail that they are activated.
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: James0x57 on December 10, 2010, 08:36:15 PM was the mail not working for GeckoCodes either by chance?
Shark2003 said he wasn't getting an email (but I was sending it..) Title: Re: Forum update Post by: doomkaiber001 on December 10, 2010, 10:58:20 PM Hey, how do I upload pictures now? There's still no 'upload' button, if that was what was meant to be included in the update. If there is could someone tell me where to find it?
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Link on December 11, 2010, 06:36:35 AM was the mail not working for GeckoCodes either by chance? Shark2003 said he wasn't getting an email (but I was sending it..) I did not change a bit about GeckoCodes.org and geckocodes.org should use completely different SMTP data.. please verify it yourself (use l0nk.org as SMTP server with a locally installed thunderbird or related and try the credentials in the code).. otherwise, PHP test scripts should work. I did not change a single bit there, GeckoCodes.org is stored at a different places on the server harddrive. Title: Re: Forum update Post by: James0x57 on December 11, 2010, 11:07:49 PM Cool cool.
It still works for me, I just couldn't check when I was at work and posted that Title: Re: Forum update Post by: joey9923 on January 05, 2011, 09:47:05 AM Thank you link
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Link on January 11, 2011, 10:12:25 AM Thank-you addon should be back and working.. no official update, I modified some of its PHP, so that it should work again.
And as hoped: the database was not reset, I still see many thank-yous of former posts, I hope all of them are still there! Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Thomas83Lin on October 14, 2014, 02:09:05 AM Wow surprised to see this forum back online. What happened

Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Thomas83Lin on April 03, 2015, 12:06:13 AM First post in 2015 :D I guess the site won't be up long until it goes down again. :'(
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: hetoan2 on April 06, 2015, 06:39:08 PM I talked to Link a while ago about it. Hopefully I might be able to do something soon... I miss this forum.
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Thomas83Lin on April 07, 2015, 01:39:17 AM Anything that can be done to keep the site alive would be appreciated ::)
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Arudo on April 19, 2015, 09:42:41 PM Huh we're live again? Amazing.
*I got bored and also checked to see if my Wii & USB Gecko still work* Surprisingly they do. Yay! Title: Re: Forum update Post by: XeR on April 24, 2015, 09:33:42 PM The Wii scene is dead, isn't it ?
#USBGecko @ EFNet is also dead : #usbgecko: XeR_0x2A @Austin @Mega-Bot Anyone know what the problem is ? Title: Re: Forum update Post by: wiiztec on May 14, 2015, 12:38:34 AM Please tell me WiiRd's not gonna go down again
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Arudo on May 14, 2015, 12:40:30 AM Don't jinx it!
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Thomas83Lin on May 15, 2015, 04:14:54 PM Well the site is fairly dead right now. I'm betting if traffic doesn't come back, it'll die again. It needs something to bring some life back into the site. Maybe a WiiU hacking section, once\if the exploits become public. I'm fairly sure people are already making codes on the system privately. WiiURd lol
edit: btw anyone know of a good program to backup websites, I'd like to make a private backup in case this site goes permanently Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Arudo on May 15, 2015, 10:20:00 PM Doesn't that Webarchive or whatever work fairly well to save/store webpages?
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Thomas83Lin on May 17, 2015, 11:43:18 AM Doesn't that Webarchive or whatever work fairly well to save/store webpages? is that a program or one of them archived website sites? I was trying the HTTrack, but looking for a better solution.Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Arudo on May 17, 2015, 10:08:18 PM It's one of those website archiver site dealies.
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Thomas83Lin on May 18, 2015, 10:59:59 PM It's one of those website archiver site dealies. Httrack seemed to work good enough, now I have a virtual copy of Geckocodes and Wiird. Both together was about 7.5gb Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Arudo on May 20, 2015, 04:58:14 AM That's pretty impressive.
Title: Re: Forum update Post by: Bully@Wiiplaza on May 26, 2015, 11:21:55 AM Httrack seemed to work good enough, now I have a virtual copy of Geckocodes and Wiird. Both together was about 7.5gb Yes, I also had good experiences with HTTrack (https://www.httrack.com/) by mirroring my website just in case to keep it all backed up. Obviously it won't work for the "private" sections. :PTitle: Re: Forum update Post by: Fighter19 on June 13, 2015, 02:13:08 PM According to the manual you should be able to store cookies in a file, you'd just need to extract them from your browser while being logged in and downloading the private sites should work (I think).
