Title: Hacking WiiWare games help?
Post by: PoptartHunter on April 09, 2012, 10:09:59 PM
I'd like to start making codes for WiiWare games, but I have no idea how. Yes, I've tried googling, just can't find any good info about it.

I heard something about a rebooter option, but that option isn't in my version of gecko OS I'm using (latest version).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need a USB Gecko to write codes.

Also, in order to load channels with Gecko OS, you need IOS36 to be patched.  http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,6843.msg59073.html#msg59073

Oh I see, thank you for your help. So if I patch iOS 36 then the option should show up in Gecko OS? I've got a USB gecko already (been making codes since around December).

Edit: never mind, read the topic. Thanks again dcx2!

Correct.  Gecko OS loads using IOS36.  When it loads, it checks IOS36 for the ES_DiVerify patch (sometimes also called ES_Identify).  If it finds that patch, it will show the option for launching channels with cheats.  If it does not find that patch, it hides that option from the user to prevent confusion (oddly, this decision has probably lead to *more* confusion by people wondering where the option is, lol)

Without that patch, Gecko OS wouldn't be able to identify itself as the channel, which means it would not have access to any save data.
