Title: Mario Party 9 [SSQE01]
Post by: MasamuneMarth on March 12, 2012, 01:16:21 PM
I've been recently hacking this game since i had got it yesterday. It's not much, but here's what i have so far.

QuoteMax/Infinite Party Points
05752242 0000270F

Max Points - Fungi Frenzy
056F871B 00000063

Max Points - Bumper Bubbles
0572659B 00000063
*NOTE* the counter will go back to 1 after getting a new balloon, but will go back to 99 when the minigame is over

Max Points - Plunder Ground
0573231B 00000063
*NOTE* kinda the same as the code above, except the point count starts at 00 until it says "Finish", then it goes back to 99.
I'll add more when possible. Currently working on a One Hit Kills Bosses code.

Also, i tried to make a one hit kills Bowser Jr. during the minigames where you have to shoot him down, but it only affected the heart HUD's. it still requires you to hit Bowser Jr. three times.

nice but please use ASM/Pointer or you won´t get far...

Has there been any one else working on cheat codes for this version of the game?

I would but that requires me to locate and buy or trade the one I have.

For those looking for codes for this version of the game, just use Bully@Wiiplaza's PAL codes. Trust me most of them works for NTSC-U. So it seems that Bully@Wiiplaza can add the codes to the NTSC-U WiiRd database.
There are some that does not work or does not work as intended.
Starting with the one that does not work:
These codes are all hacked by Bully@Wiiplaza.
Infinite Party Points

E0000000 80008000
This code I could not get to work on both the PAL and NTSC-U version of the game. So, maybe I did something wrong?

The two codes below was tested in Party mode and not in Solo mode

E0000000 80008000

These code does have effect, but not the way it is intended or has a "fake" effect like for example: the codes may show the value modified but the actual game value is untouched.
Again these codes are all hacked by Bully@Wiiplaza.

The graphic aspect of the value is change, but the actual value remains. Other player can still beat you regardless if P1 has the code enabled or not. Also it appears that P3 also have the codes effect as well.

One Hit Kill
20370D58 80030000
04370D58 38000000

This code does work, however the game goes to an infinite loop animation. Does not freeze the game.

Other then the above codes, the rest of the PAL codes seems to work really well on the NTSC-U version of this game. Kudos to you Bully@Wiiplaza!

Can anyone please get the Infinite Mini Stars code to work in both Party and Solo mode and for the NTSC-U? Or at least the USA version of the game?

thank you for this analysis, IAMASOMBODY. You´re pretty right with these code issues. I´m wondering how my score codes only affect the display?
I could replicate a few of these things also, but not all... I´ll work on it, I´m not done yet with this game. More coming soon! O0

Very awesome job there, IAMASOMEBODY!
i never would have guessed that the PAL codes would even work with the NTSC-U version.
thumbs up to you! Excellent job! :D

and my guess on the minigames is that they have 2 kinds of values, the visable ones we know of, and a hidden value, which only appears when a certain action is performed (like Bowser Jr. losing one of his 3 heart points).

also, is it possible for a code to one hit kills the bosses to be made? i've tried, but it only just effected the score of the player.

pokepower...
maybe trying the codes out would be kinda useful instead of telling me to port all of them? (Like you did before)
And you are a hacker yourself, go and work on it. It´s your interest to have them ported in the first place, not mine.
Luckily, we´ve nothing to port for this game. ;)

There´s a value for display, real and one fake (I remember).

Didn´t you check the codes I made?
One Hit Kill Bowser Junior (3 hearts eliminated at once).

I know how to make it work, also did this to Cheep Cheep.
But the animation gets stuck on Health Bar Bosses... I need to figure the fix. :p

@Bully@Wiiplaza
Probably the reason why that the problem cannot be all replicated, is due to that you're using PAL version of the game. I tested the PAL codes on an NTSC-U version of this game. Other then that Great work and your welcome! Keep up the good work .

@pokepower
Thank you for the complement! Like you, I would have not ever thought about using codes from one region to another region, because by default the always never work directly, or at least not without porting them. The upper-memory areas of the codes tends to be region free though in my experience. The reason I decided to make an exception is that I was trying to port the codes over to NTSC-U and the results were shows exactly the same codes as the PAL. This prompted me to just simply try the PAL codes directly, into NTSC-U using WiiRd and to my surprised most of them worked!

I tell you this game is a pain in the arse to hack, I tried my hands at ASM, and that was an epic fail LOL. I know some ASM commands, but don't know how to use them, how to put them together in Asmwiird, or it could be that I don't know wtf I am doing :D.
I have a couple codes of my own for NTSC-U:
Button Activator [Bully@Wiiplaza]
282FB40A YYYYZZZZ
The activator codes was hacked by Bully@Wiiplaza and will work on NTSC-U version of this game. The activator is used in one of my codes

Infinite Mini Stars [IAMASOMBODY]
48000000 8175B480
DE000000 80008180
14003554 000003E7
E0000000 80008000

Infinite Steps [IAMASOMBODY]
282FB40A YYYYZZZZ
48000000 8175B480
DE000000 80008180
14003570 0000000A
14003574 0000000A
E0000000 80008000
Notes:
Hold your button(s) to keep moving.
Good button placement is required or multiple button combo is recommended, or will render the game unplayable in Bob-omb Factory stage by accidentally activating it to soon aka player order screen.
The graphical aspect may remain ineffective, but the actual move counter is effected by the code.

i would love to see a code that lets you alter the amount of stars the mini game rewards are for regular and battle mini games..

like upping the amounts each place wins.. i wonder if a code like this is even possible

sure it is, could be tricky though (to increase the reward by some factor like x4)

Then I am wondering if it has to do with using UNEEK +DI, perhaps that throws off some of the offsets? Having multiple firmwares is awesome!
Maybe I need to call my codes SNEEK edition?

The last code already has a button activator in the code, you just need to plug in the button value. In case you do not know the value, you can use this one:

Infinite Steps [IAMASOMBODY]
282FB40A F7EF0810
48000000 8175B480
DE000000 80008180
14003570 0000000A
14003574 0000000A
E0000000 80008000
Hold A and +.

If the codes cease to function, then go back to wii menu and restart the game. The game once in a while quit using the pointer address. If it does not work, then you may have confirmed that using SNEEK does changes the offset, provided that you're not using SNEEK or any of its variant.
The first code "Infinite Mini Stars" should always write to RAM, unless if you do not want the code not to write to RAM all the time, then you need to add a button activator on it.

You're right about pointers disappearing; I thought I was going crazy the first time I found this out. Now that it is confirmed by you, I feel much better.
At least it is once in a while instead of every stage changes and what not. Also it’s better to have some code that works for a while then no codes at all. I just wish that I knew how to properly put together a proper working ASM codes LOL.

ASM fails hard, it moves every time you load a new stage/minigame etc. like the normal ram address and there´s no ASM pointer that can be used either. I´m experienced with ASM, I know what I´m doing. So yeah, sucks, we have to stick to pointer codes until someone comes up with the perfect solution >.>

Really? I am surprised, because I thought that ASM is Usually is guaranteed, but I guess I am definatly wrong. This info makes me more at ease knowing that I am not good at ASM. Thank you and I am glad that you know what you are talking about and working on this game as well, because your experience with ASM is still valuable. Who knows perhaps you may stumble on the "perfect solution".
I do know that I certainly will not come up with "the perfect solution" :D.

FYI---

I would be careful not to use 999(03E7) as mini stars as it tends to crash use 500(1F4) it is safe and will not cause the memory to lock up.  It does some weird capping and calculation during mini games and anything over 999 when adding during some mini games causes a crashes during game play.  Just an observation.

I used your Mini Star code and it works! Now I just need an infinite steps code that works, or at least a dice code that won't freeze in solo mode.

Glad to know my code is working for others...If I find a fix for it or a work around I'll post it.

According to IAMASOMEBODY, not all of them do. Also is this post http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php?topic=2582.0 (http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php?topic=2582.0) accurate for choosing what buttons activate a code? The one code I want the most now is the one for infinite steps (to finish a game faster). That's one of the PAL codes that won't work. Even IAMASOMEBODY's version of the code doesn't work! It could be that I'm applying the buttons wrong. Will getting rid of that line completely and applying the rest of the code in Wiird fix that?

A good site for finding controller codes is this one: http://gamehacking.org/faqs/Wii-Button_Activator_Values.pdf
Once you find the 16bit address use a standard if code (http://geckocodes.org/index.php?arsenal=1).  Taking out the line will only cause it to be static and constant you would never end your turn.  If the codes of mine worked try using 2828668A for your main address for the button activator and you can use that first link to determine your own combination.  I will have to try it tomorrow and see if I can get his to work, but for now try that address for your button activator.  :)

I tried this combination: EBFF1400 which is the B button and (+) button but it didn't work! Either the code itself doesn't work or that was a bad button combo. The A and (+) combo you posted earlier doesn't work either as I mentioned earlier. This is basically what I tried:

2828668A EBFF1400
48000000 8175B480
DE000000 80008180
14003570 0000000A
14003574 0000000A
E0000000 80008000

but it didn't work! Maybe it's that the code itself doesn't work.

Now is it possible for anyone to make a code that modifies the mini stars for players 2, 3 and 4? Even in Solo mode? Because getting all the star ranks means gettings as few mini stars as possible for the lower ranks.

If not, can someone at least make me a code that unlocks all Star Ranks? Oh and if possible, a code that keeps the timer at 0 in whichever minigames? It would be great for beating the staff record in Time Trials although it's unfair...

Not sure what you mean by Star Ranking, but by chance do you have the ability to search codes???  (Having a USB Gecko and WiiRD???)

I mean the rankings in Solo Mode for getting a certain number of Mini Stars. For example, getting 550 Mini stars or more gets you the True Superstar ranking, the highest possible. And no, I only use my USB Gecko and Wiird for imputting codes I find on this site.

That's probably because you imputted the button combination wrong, or the button combo you chose doesn't work too well. Try this:

http://www.codemasters-project.net/members/Skiller/CMP/Jokerwii.htm

And try the button combo 1 and 2 on the Wii remote.

I'd like to see some Mario Party 9 codes, seeing as there is only PAL and universal and the universal is only a music modifier.
