Title: New to this... Help Requested...
Post by: Skeet83 on December 03, 2011, 05:16:35 AM
I just started using Homebrew today and it works so far. I have a few questions about using the Gecko Cheat App (v 1.9.3.1):

1. How do I use codes for Wiiware games such as Mega Man 9 and 10?
2. If I reset game through Home screen/menu by pressing Home Button on Wiimote, will codes be re-enabled?

Help appreciated   :)

To use cheat codes on WiiWare/VC games, you will need to patch IOS 36 so that it has ES_Identify; the trucha sign-bug and NAND patch probably wouldn't hurt either.  You can use this guide to help you; click "Patching IOS36" for details.  http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,6843.msg59073.html#msg59073

As far as resetting the game, I think it depends largely on the game.  I think some games reset to the System Menu, while other games reset to the wrist strap screen.  If you reset and it doesn't leave the game, I would guess that the codes probably stay active.  If you reset and it leaves the game, the codes are definitely not active anymore.

Hmm, reset from the home menu should always get you back to the game. But there might be a difference from game to game, some games reload the main.dol, others reset without reloading the main.dol. If the main.dol is reset, the multi .dol hook needs to work to keep the codes active, and all other patches, like the language patch, are lost.
