I want to start hacking my Wii, for MH3. I've bought an SD card and a reader (didn't have an SD card slot).
If you're familiar with the game, I basically want to make required items at the smithy as some basic item, so I can make some weapons and armor that requires insane things (5 los plates for example).
So I went to the internet and there is a wealth of information. I live in Australia playing on the EU servers so I'm fairly certain I have the PAL edition.
Questions:
1. How do I hack my Wii? I have the materials, what do I put on there where I can paste/write out codes for use on my game.
2. What version should my Wii be at, it's pretty recent, I'd guess I last updated it 2 months ago.
3. I probably won't be in this for the long haul. I just want to mess around on MH3 without getting banned online, and as long as I hack offline and use level appropriate gear online I should be fine. Does this change anything?
I've already found the codes I want to use. How do I start hacking and input these codes.
Thanks in advance.

That should answer most of your questions.

I looked at it a few days ago, I couldn't really get the answer I wanted there. Is all installations necessary? Seems strange to put in a few codes, I need to install so many different things. It doesn't say which ones to install or use. What parts of that do I need to enter codes for MH3? Just a short summary from someone in layman's terms would be nice, I have no experience in this field.
If you just want to use cheats, I'd recommend these steps:
To install Homebrew Channel on the Wii:
1. Determine if you have System Menu less or equal to 4.2, or equal to 4.3.
2. If 4.2 or lower, use the "Bannerbomb" method: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Bannerbomb
3. If 4.3, use the "LetterBomb" method: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/LetterBomb
4. Get the "HackMii Installer" and put it on the root of your SD card: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Channel
5. Follow the instructions in either "Bannerbomb" or "LetterBomb" to run the "HackMii Installer".
To enter cheats for a game:
1. Download the Code Manager program for computer.
2. Use Code Manager to convert .txt cheat file to .gct cheat file.
3. Put the .gct in the "codes" folder on SD card, e.g. SD\codes\RMHE08.gct
To run cheats for a game:
1. Download "Gecko OS" and put it in the "apps" folder on SD card.
2. In Homebrew Channel, go to "Gecko OS".
3. Follow on-screen instructions to enable cheat code, then boot the game.
Thanks, that is exactly what I was after.
Thanked and applauded.
Sorry for double posting but I thought it's better than starting a new thread.
I turned on two skiller cheats and then tried loading it through Ocarina. It seemed to load fine but then I got error 002. I've done some research but everywhere it talks about Gecko OS options needing to be changed to an avoid 002 problem. Videos on youtube seem to use old versions. I'm not using a pirated game, it's the real version of Monster Hunter Tri. How do I access the 002 error option on the latest version of Gecko OS/Ocarina? There seems to be no options on Ocarina and the 2 sets of options on Gecko OS don't seem to contain it.
Please help.
Edit: I just saw what I had was Gecko OS by Duke, and I went to highest rated and saw Gecko OS 1.9.3.1 or something, by Duke and brkirch, so deleted Gecko OS, and installing this now. This may've been the problem.
Edit: Yay it works. Closing thread now. Thanks everyone!
FYI, Error 002 is usually caused when you don't have the required IOS. Gecko OS will install a required IOS automatically from the update partition (WITHOUT updating the System Menu firmware).
So if you're getting error 002, you either a screwed up your IOS or you aren't using the right version of Gecko OS.
