Title: 3DS Ambassador Program - Last day to get free stuff from Nintendo -
Post by: Arudo on August 04, 2011, 02:35:23 AM
http://www.giantbomb.com/news/nintendo-slashes-3ds-price-to-16999-early-adopters-get-free-games/3530/

Of course, being one of the people that got his 3DS early with the original 250 price tag, this makes the soul of my wallet/credit card cry in agony.

The only plus is the 20 free games on Virtual Console.

Saw an article on slashdot that talked about an animated GIF of Miyamoto holding a DS printing money and laughing.  I just had to find it.
F'ing hilarious.

Man, I need to grab a pic of them holding a 3DS and have the money going the opposite direction. And have tears that move instead of mouths.

..I do have Adobe Fireworks at work... lol

I think the 3DS is a good system, except for two problems.

1) Battery life.  This will improve with 3DSLite, and FWIW I hardly ever play on the go so I'll usually be near a wall outlet

2) Launch lineup.  This is a real killer.  However, I read a comment on slashdot (take that with a grain of salt..) which alleged that Nintendo wanted to sit on the 3DS until there was a stronger launch lineup, but then investors were like "PRINT MORE MONEY" and so they launched early, and now that it's flopping due to the poor launch lineup all the investors are panicking.

I think in due time both of these problems will resolve themselves.  The 3DS may not be the smashing success that the DS was, but that doesn't make it a bad system.

The only advantage for getting it early was some of the DLC stuff for certain games which was limited to an early date range, other than that I don't really have too many new games I want for 3DS for the time being.

An improvement in battery life is always good. But when they release the 3dslite, it has to have a better viewing angle.  I hate that I have to hold my position firmly to keep the 3d that I don't even see >.>.

A few retailers dropped the price early. I got mine yesterday from Target at $169.99 :p. When I got home, I updated and was greeted with ambassador status. >.<

How can you tell if you have ambassador status? I've connected and even bought a couple titles a while ago but I don't see anything..

Pretty sure there wasn't a message or anything for the status, unless they released an update for the system.
I imagine that you're all set for the Ambassador status as long as you've connected to the eShop at least once.

EDIT:
Never mind, they must have just sent the message out today, or something because I just went into the eShop and was greeted with ambassador status.

As soon as it was announced you should've been notified when you went to the e-shop. I updated yesterday and went to the e-shop and that was the first announcement I received.

Yeah, there should be a 'Welcome to the Ambassador program' or something similar in the News section of the eShop.

Although that has now disappeared for me...

Ambassador Games have been released!

How-to (due to the eShop being majorly user unfriendly)

1. Poke the Menu (top left)
2. Go to Settings/Other
3. Go to Your Downloads
4. Scroll down
5. Profit!

Unfortunately you'll have to do this over and over for all the titles you want.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo will be releasing the games later today.

What you, me (and many other people) found out about, ("re-downloading" the games from the settings) was *probably* a glitch, or something in the program that happened yesterday. Besides, not every ambassador would know where to get the games from if this was the only way to download them.

There'll probably be an ambassador menu or something to download them from, sometime later today!

I know, they have been available since yesterday.

My whole post was pretty much wrong, though. XD

Nintendo's leaving it the way it is. There'll be no "ambassador menu..."
