Title: RAM Dump Collection Thread
Post by: Bully@Wiiplaza on June 14, 2011, 10:49:46 AM
I´d like to have such a thread.
Wouldn´t it be useful, if any hacker posts RAM dumps from his games?
Others would greatly appreciate it, when porting codes.
Since not everybody has the chance to get his hands on games from other regions, therefore there should be a general topic for these RAM Dumps required for portings.

My suggested rules for posting dumps:

1.) Dumps must be performed on the title screen of a game (Mem80 + 90), where you need to press a button/buttons to continue (if a game has moving assembly, dumps need to be performed everywhere, where the assembly changed: default game is e.g. Black Ops, it has 3 different RAM Sections: Zombies, Multiplayer and Storymode)
2.) Gecko.Net should be used as hacking tool (do not apply any codes before dumping, important!!)
3.) Go to "Tools Tab", click on "Dump both" and save to the following directory (example Super Smash Bros. Brawl):
C:\XXXX\RAM Dumps\Super Smash Bros. Brawl\SSBB PAL RAM Dump
File name should be (e.g. for Brawl): RSBP01_DUMP80.bin
4.) Files must be compressed to rar files using WinRaR and uploaded to sites with direct downloads with low waiting time for guaranteed downloads
(examples: mediafire.com/megaupload.com/2shared.com/jafile.com)
5.) A post with the link will be made, telling which RAM Dumps it is and for which game
6.) A moderator can then include the link in the first post, also sorting them properly that you can view the downloads for each region of the game (e.g. PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J if all of they were posted by people)

Default Downloadlink:
http://jafile.com/uploads/wiiplaza/conduit_2_pal_ram_dump.rar

Default Post:

Conduit 2 PAL RAM Dump

Download: http://jafile.com/uploads/wiiplaza/conduit_2_pal_ram_dump.rar

7.) Topic should be opened for people with "hacker status" that they can post (also, the topic should be on the public section, because people may need dumps to port their codes for their own, if they know how. Probably just on hacker section, Idk what you think for now)

---------------------
Critics are welcome though.

Make sure to zip them; mem dumps usually compress quite well.

I don't know if it's a good idea of putting these up in the public area.  I'm not sure if a memory dump would be considered copyrighted or not.

ok then let´s keep this out of publics (btw. rar is better than zip as far as I know and there is the possibility to use "best compression" method, I just forgot to mention that above)
I don´t think that RAM Dumps are illegal.
Mdmwii is hosting them on his forum and wiiplaza aswell. Neither of them does tolerate illegal files on their board
But you should know it better than me anyways!

Technically, 7z is the best compression.  However, I would imagine that any compression at all would be sufficient.

I'm not sure if a memory dump would be considered copyrighted or not, especially given the complicated question of jurisdiction (some things are illegal in the US but legal in the EU).  I just try to err on the side of caution, myself.

iv had a collection goin for some time of Dumps ..
Its no were ner my Ps2 Elf collection of  if 32,344 files :P

i have about 300Dumps .. so 150 diffrent games Ram DUmps .. dumped ..

but the format iv been following on mine was

Monster Hunter JPN V1 0x80.bin
Monster Hunter JPN V1 0x90.bin

Then Compress both into
Monster Hunter JPN V1.Rar

i try to keep the version numbers with them as well since there are games with Multipal versioin numbers .. u might want to think about this as well... would alow for easy porting if u get other version ...

and i think by now we can all find out our version numbers ..

this is upto u .. just an idea :P

yes, I didn´t mention it because I never thought about the version numbers.
It´s a definetely good idea to include that!
99% of all dumps are v1 anyways :P

This could probably become a RAM Dump Requesting Thread.

if skiller already has a collection of 150+ then why dont we just upload to his, i think i did a search awhile back and he had a 4sshare account or somthing like that

Edit: i found it... skiller, if we upload to your 4shared, maybe the game ID should be included since some hames have similar names, example(TMNT, TMNT cawabunga) i see some games on the data base not fully labeled or labeled wrong
game IDs would make it easy even if a miss title

I made dumps from most popular wii games and mostly all regions included...
It´s often pretty difficult to get the ntsc-j one from somewhere... :(

Here is the ram dump from:
Rune Factory Tides of Destiny - NTSC-U - SO3EE9
Rune Factory Oceans - NTSC-J - SO3J99

Like suggested i made a ram dump from the 80 and 90 ram area at the title screen with a newer gecko[dot]net.
Hope this helps some people.
