I can load and run my game on the Wii with Gecko OS. I have the cheat codes.
On the SD card at the root level
gameconfig.txt
RT4?AF
hooktype = 2
Codes
RT4EAF.txt
I select the option run reloader and I am told that no SD codes are found.
I think that I am not naming the codes correctly. What is the correct way to put them on the SD card?
You need to have a .gct file for your codes, not a .txt.
I would say use Acciohacks but I think there's an issue with that right now (I think).
Other methods would include using a code manager app of some sort.
When you say "reloader", do you mean rebooter?
The Gecko OS option you'll want is "Launch Game".
EDIT: I don't think you need to use the gameconfig.txt file. At least I never needed one. I think Gecko OS automatically sets the right hooktype.
Arudo is right; you need a gct file, which is a txt file with specific formatting. When Accio Hacks works again, that will be the easiest way. Until then, you can do it manually.

Go to the database entry for the game you want. I presume you're looking for ToS:DotNW codes. http://www.geckocodes.org/index.php?c=RT4EAF
Click "->GCT"
Click "Add Codes" (NOT "Add More Codes")
Check the codes that you want, editing them if necessary
Click "Download GCT" at the bottom
Place that file in SD:\Codes\

To place files on the SD card, you can pop it out of the Wii and put it in your PC. Personally, I find all the SD swapping to be a pain in the butt, so I use an app called FTPii; it's an FTP server that runs on the Wii. Then I can connect with any old ftp client (I use FileZilla) and drag/drop files to/from the SD card at will.
Use Accio.
