Let's say I found a video on YouTube that was showing off hacks and the uploader appeared to be taking credit for them. What process could we use to send a takedown notice to YouTube?
1) Death threats
2) Ask anonymous
3) See if his password is "password"
4) Ask him in a comment or youtube pm
Seriously though... I really don't know. Is the code itself in the video or linked to in an uncredited text form?
We could all spam the comments with the url (use a space instead of a '.') of the code(s) on geckocodes and thumbs up eachother's comments
The codes are posted plain-as-day in the description, without any sort of credit at all.
Worse, one of the codes is missing a terminator. So it will fuck up other codes if anyone tries to use it.
And he's a little jerk with a bad mouth, too. So I would really like to send a takedown notice to YouTube.
If the hacker himself flags the video as infringing on his copyright, then the rest of us flag as "infringes my rights" -> "other legal claim" we might then be offered an option to speak for the original hacker
other than that + leaving comments, I dunno
So that's all I have to do, is click "flag as inappropriate"?
I tried, YouTube wanted too much info, and the takedown notice would have my real name in place of the video being taken down. Screw that.
I left some nasty comments. But it turns out that I think it was just some kid (autistic, to boot!). He didn't think the names were important... ::)
I shouldn't have left nasty comments, I shoulda just messaged him privately. I ended up doing that, and he gave credit for the codes, so I took my nasty comments down.
lol
my #4 suggestion has worked for me in the past but I haven't dealt with foul-mouthed vloggers so I didn't press it
Yeah, note to future hackers who get pissed off when they find their codes uncredited:
Try the nice approach first. I know, it's hard when you see hours of your work plagiarized, but just try to be nice first.
just the other day when looking at some of Bully's G.E hack videos, related videos, some noob handing out some of his and Deathwolf's codes in exchange for subscribers, another redirecting them to a site where they have to fill out a survey. i thought that was the lowest of low. and yes. most people who decide to use codes on wii videogames are kids. they don't know any better. all they do is take codes and call them their hacks.

-.- damnit that´s what I already expected. I gave them out for FREE, they only need to visit wiiplaza.
People mostly try to mess with my codes nowadays... every dumbshit is leaking if I send a code once in a PM or they do beg for non-host wifi codes OR want me to host a XP Lobby for them (Goldeneye/Black Ops)
I once sent a code to a guy and told him not to share it.
2 days later, it was posted on 2 different sites and 2 other people added their credit to my code ._. "[Bully@Wiiplaza/Some Noob]"
Now everybody got the code, but in the end, it didn´t really matter since someone else also released a similar hack...
More than the first 200 (!) on the zombies leaderboards are now hacking due to that shit and a lot of fags hosting leaderboard hack lobbies like crazy (last checked 1 month ago).
would you please send me the video link, Jay? :)
I need to flame at him now. That´s the purpoise why I won´t release good codes for "untouched" WiFi games anymore which could be used on WiFi.
I tried to email Treyarch, and I also joined their forum and PMed a mod.
Silence.
I guess Treyarch doesn't want to stop cheaters.
I sent an email to 3 email addresses for treyarch/activision and even an extra one to Nintendo.
I did this months ago and got the exact silence you did, dcx2.
Support and love for the Wii from the COD developers is practically non-existant now and was barely there back when I sent my emails.
Cheating is only getting worse since they've stopped releasing patches.
Cheat codes are spreading and it was only the patches that was holding them back
They've abandoned the Wii and the low-life rats have moved in.
Thanks to them, I can't see another COD title being released on the Wii now - only hope is the new home console.
I tried HVS, too. The Conduit 2 was JUST released, and they're still actively patching it.
I definitely wouldn't help Nintendo add wifi protection, though. They would shoot themselves in the foot by adding protection to single player games, and then we'd have to break that protection and wifi games would be open season again.
Probably true. Didn't Nintendo have some decent protection on Metroid Prime? They should have saved it..
edit: but seriously, these companies should not be too prideful to allow this transaction.. It's almost irritating.
.......I could post in that little update line on the front page of GeckoCodes if you word it to fit. They'll probably see it.
I have full confidence that you, dcx2, could seriously help them.
Yeah, they did add some protection to Metroid: Other M. I thought that was weird...it's a single player game, so who cares if people cheat?
I can understand why developers would be hesitant. They might not believe that I'm a white hat. Or maybe it's just Occam's Razor...perhaps the emails were never read, or they were read by some intern who didn't pass them up the line, or the intern passed them to some middle-management PHB who didn't take it seriously or let it get swept up in the daily rush.
Bushing's encounter with Nintendo, though, was enough to make me never want to contact them, ever.
My final attempt will be just straight up posting to the gamefaqs board where I see HVS staff. Maybe if I call them out in public on the board they'll answer me, because obviously discrete PMs and emails will get you nowhere.
"Bushing's encounter with Nintendo"?
If they think that they have to put their names in my code, then just do it.... I've no problems with it. Just search for the code name in google and they will see the REAL hacker name. I exacty remember when I released a F6 code for CoD Bo which is called "UNPATCHABLE" and now every hacker use F6 and this name. It was a big mistake -.-"
strakn, 777 just remade codes which has been already done long time ago... That sucks hard.
I read the post once on Hackmii. I can't find it now...guess it was deleted.
Once upon a time, Bushing tried to contact Nintendo. At first they ignored him. Then, they got in contact with him...but he wanted to talk over email. Instead, Nintendo stalked him, discovered his real name, address, and employer, and then had someone call him at work.
I may have a few details wrong since the post is gone. But I do know they called his place of employment when he explicitly asked not to be contacted by phone and provided no phone numbers.
It's just the online side that I wanted to help. But treyarch/activison didn't even acknowledge my emails so I sent a quick one to Nintendo because I didn't want to see yet another fantastic game becoming infested.
I still want access to hack offline games due to my love of it. but I'll do anything I can to help protect the online and the gamers that play it.

I can remember reading about that. Pretty serious stuff, too. I even got to see a few transcripts, I think.
I saw them on Hackmii, I believe.
Nintendo really overstepped the mark with that, though. I can only assume that they wanted to intimidate.
