Title: Can't Launch Channels from Gecko OS
Post by: shadowdragon992001 on April 18, 2011, 01:08:28 PM
It's rather odd really... I have just Gecko OS. i have both 1.9 and 1.9.3.1 on my SD card, both function just fine, except this problem... 1.9 has the listing "launch channel" but when i select it, it says "Error loading channel list" and when i go to gecko1.9.3.1 it doesnt even have a listing to launch channel... any ideas on what i can do? or can someone point me towards a topic that addressed this problem? i tried looking, but couldnt find anything.

I'm running Wii 4.3

In order to load channels, Gecko OS must be able to identify as the channel, so that it can access saves, etc.  This requires IOS36 to have the ES_Identify patch.

Sounds like 1.9.3.1 checks to see whether IOS36 is patched before offering you a chance to load channels, which is why you don't see it.

Read "Patching IOS36" in this post http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,6843.msg59073.html#msg59073

What patches did you apply to IOS36?  Do you know what version of IOS36 you used to patch?

Can you run the Hackmii Installer again?  It will create an installer.log file on your SD card.  Post it (spoilered please).

There are also some other apps.  Some folks had success with another app, Multi Mod Manager or something.  http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,6770.msg58426.html#msg58426

I applied the one that was straight from the patcher. i used the option to get it from the "NUS" downloader, or something like that. so whatever version is from there

No.

4.3 will unpatch IOS36, but you can patch it again afterward.

You didn't finish reading my post.

er, try SysCheck instead

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/SysCheck

It's like any other homebrew app.

It's cool, take your time.  111 is better at this than me, but I haven't seen him around in a while...

hm, well, i ran the system check. weird thing was i think it froze... my slot started blinking blue and the wiimote turned off.. but it created a file on the SD card anyway. "sysCheck.csv" is that the file you need to see? if so, here.

Ugh, you're right.

Uhm...Dop-Mii is another app that is supposed to have a "report".  it should list whether your IOS has any patches.

If Simple IOS Patcher didn't work, you could try Multi Mod Manager.

Glad it worked for you!

Sorry it was so painful.  That's how homebrew is, sometimes...

its not homebrew's fault, its Nintendo's for being so abhorrent to the idea... we wouldnt need to jump through 50 hoops just to clear one hurdle. but yeah, its good. though, now i just need to find the right codes... the ones i got didnt work >>
