Title: Am I doing it wrong?
Post by: Dudemanword on January 06, 2011, 04:41:19 AM
I'm trying to convert certain GCN AR codes (for Tales of Symphonia) using GCNcrypt and GCN AR to Wiird.
Using this code as an example:

Lloyd, all 31 Techs(xTheSiskox):
HRMH-74XX-J0CTU
FQBX-94UW-H3KTH
3A73-HK9W-3QAMP
FN5X-Y1AJ-V741B
3699-D8Z6-3MW27
636A-M8TJ-BMBQX
4QFM-NAT8-3JK3Z

I put this into GCNcrypt and get(xTheSiskox):
05A05F6A 08000000
045B6BE0 00000005
045B6BE4 FC7FFFFF
045B6BE8 00000005
045B6BEC FC7FFFFF
045B6BF0 00000005
045B6BF4 FC7FFFFF

After that, I put it into GCN AR to Wiird checking the verifer line box and get(xTheSiskox):
045B6BE0 00000005
045B6BE4 FC7FFFFF
045B6BE8 00000005
045B6BEC FC7FFFFF
045B6BF0 00000005
045B6BF4 FC7FFFFF

Which looks exactly like the decypted version of the AR code except the first line is missing

So I put this into a text file and use the Code Manager to convert it into a GCT. Using GeckoOSmod, I boot the game, it says codes applied successfully and the game boots. I check the game but the code does not work. What Am I doing wrong?

The 04 ct is one of the few codetypes that is identical on GCN AR. So the problem is not there..

Have you enabled the code handler in GeckoOSMod? Have you got other GCN codes to work?

Yes, I have enabled Ocarina and the hook type is set to none. Otherwise, the game won't boot with the VBI hooktype. I have got other GCN codes to work, but those were not codes that I had converted.

Well, there's only so many things that it can be then...

Are you sure the code is for the same region as your copy of the game? (it's possible that whatever site that came from could have added it to the wrong place too)

Are there other codes for this game that do work? (The code does look strange for what it's supposed to be doing.. but that's the way it goes sometimes.)

It's possible that GeckoOSMod might not be able to correctly hook this game..
Is the "(M)" code for this game more than 2 lines? (You don't need this on Wii UNLESS it's more than 2 lines but it is required for GCN AR so it should be wherever you found that code.)

Well, I'm not sure if the region is the same. I think that the NTSC version and the UK version both share the same ID: GQSEAF. The French/German one has its own id as well. I know my NTSC version(compatible with my NTSC wii and gamecube) has the ID GQSEAF(Found in GeckoOS mod). But in this link in this same site, I came across this: http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php?topic=981.0.

This game does have a 2 line master code. Does that mean that I would have to convert that as well?
Let me clarify that. The master code is 2 lines encrypted(codejunkies):
DRY6-X8CH-BW3WG
E1Q3-P6WX-ZQFQG

Decrypted it looks like this(codejunkies):
05A0DBAC 88000000
C4114108 0000FF01

Through the GCN AR to Wiird I get:
Absolutely Nothing

Nope, 2 lines means that it's only one dol so GOSMod should be able to hook it..

So I am not sure why the codes don't work for you. Sorry I can't help...

I'm having the same trouble on Pikmin...I can't get -ANY- codes to work for the game...
