Post by: GreenThunder on December 16, 2010, 03:21:45 AM
I just wanted to know how this can be done because i wanna use some of the voices for things (like idk, fangames 'n' stuff like that) so I was just wondering, how do I get sound files from Super Mario Galaxy's ISO?

Using those files in fangames would violate Nintendo's copyrights.  Whether Nintendo is sufficiently motivated to sue you is less clear, but I doubt this forum would look highly upon such legal liability.

There is a homebrew app that allows you to navigate through the files on a disk like wii scruper. You can then extract them to your sd card. Another opition would be to dump the whole disk using wii iso dumper. An app that dumps the games iso from the wii. It requires some cios crap, but even when you do get the files unless they're bsrtm files there is no way to play them.

It's the same with backups, it's fine to tell him how to extract the sounds. It's up to him on how he uses them.

As for the original question, your best bet would be a sound recorder. (Microphone, Capture card, etc) I have my doubts on the sound files being extracted/read like wav, mp3, etc.
If someone asks about backups in general, I'm fine with offering help.  If, as in this case, someone asks about backups and specifically says his aim is to break the law, I don't think it's a good idea to offer help.  Can a moderator clarify on this?
