Hello. I didn't know what else to do, so, I joined because I just got codes for Sonic Colors and I wanted to start playing it today.
Yeah... that was denied.
Here's some background information...
I read on this forum, before I joined, that the PAL codes for Sonic Colors found here:
http://geckocodes.org/index.php?c=SNCP8P
Also work for the NTSC US version of the same name. However... a couple of things happened before I was able to try out the codes.
First of all... my Homebrew Channel asked me to update, I thought "Why not?" and did so. I believe it is now Version 1.0.8 or something?
However... when I attempted to load the game with my Gecko OS version, it said "No SD codes found" then, it gave me a blue screen saying Error #002. This happened before with another game, however, I do not remember which game that was.
Also... do not worry... I do not have Wii Version 4.3. Honestly... I don't know what version Wii I have. I haven't updated in FOREVER because I always thought updating would delete my Homebrew Channel and I didn't want that because I want to be able to use codes on my Nintendo Wii games, because, honestly, I suck at video games and, for the most part, need codes to help me out in beating the games I have. However... I DO have a PS3 as well, as well as PS3 games, but, that's not the point and that's another story.
So... I suppose this topic has several purposes:
1. Did I screw myself by updating my Homebrew Channel?
2. What am I doing wrong?
3. The version of Gecko OS I have is a 002 fix v3 by someone named Nuke. Do I need to update my Gecko OS? If so... what version do I need? Where can I find it? Can someone provide me a link to where I can download it or whatever?
4. I AM using an SD card for the codes. As well as using a code manager I got a long time ago. It has worked previously for all of the other Wii games I have played. However... this was before I updated my Homebrew Channel. If you need to know more information about my SD card, how I put the codes on it, or whatever, just ask.
So... yeah... I just do not know what I am doing wrong. Am I screwed? I would not be surprised if I am. Also... maybe this board is wrong? Maybe the PAL codes for Sonic Colors DON'T work for the US version? Can someone clear that up for me?
I just really need some help here. I suppose I could just quit using homebrew and try to play games normally without codes, but, I REALLY don't want to have to turn to that.
I just REALLY need some help here. So... can someone help me out here? I'd really appreciate any help I could receive for this.
Thank you.
First of all, update Gecko to 1.9.3.1. (look at the top of this page at the news section for the link)
For getting your codes I suggest Accio Hacks (http://geckocodes.org/AH.php), it can download the codes and lets you manage them on your wii. (internet connection is needed on wii)
You know for a minute... I thought I solved the problem myself.
Because... in my codes... for Sonic Colors' ID... I put SNCP8P, however, that's the PAL game ID, whereas the US ID is SNCE8P.
However... that was denied as well... I still got the Error #002.
Also... can you tell me where I can get Accio Hacks and how to install it?
I'd really appreciate help with that as well...
Thanks again.
Follow the link in Romaaps post, and look at the right of the page. Click on download.
You then can extract it to your desktop using Winrar (I do anyway). Drag the file into the 'apps' folder on your SD card. Make sure the boot.dol, meta.xml and another file (can't remember its name) is in there, otherwise it won't work.
Hold on.
When I tried to use the codes it stated the follow:
"This game requires IOS 56. Install IOS56-64-V5405.wad?"
Yeah... I didn't understand one bit of that.
What is this? Should I install it? If not... how do I avoid it?
Ugh... it's like when one problem is solved... another one comes up.
:'(
There's an I0S installer somewhere, but I can't remember. I think it offers you the ability to download that I0S. Just put it in the apps folder after following the instructions in my last post.
I'll try and find the installer for you :P

^^^So... where is it in that link? I looked through it and did not need anything about IOS.
Or... is IOS in the Accio Hacks download?
Sorry for being such a bother... I just don't know anything about this at all... obviously...
:-[
In the 'patching I0S36' spoiler. If this doesn't work, all I can say is google it.
If the game wants IOS56, just install the latest IOS56. There's no patching, trucha, or whatever required. I would use NUS downloader to grab an IOS56 wad from nintendo's servers, and then install it with WAD Manager, or the wad installer from WiiBrew.
You get 002 error if:
- you try to use a wrong IOS. Like with the old Gecko OS that always used IOS36 for all games.
- you use the correct IOS(current Gecko OS), but the game wants a higher version than the installed one.
Keep in mind that you don't loose anything by installing the latest version of any game IOS, Ocarina codes and everything will still work.
Thanks WiiPower. Kinda what I was trying to say, but I got a little side-tracked...
@doomkaiber001
Well... it said IOS 56, not IOS 36, if I installed IOS 36... wouldn't I still get the prompt about installing IOS 56?
@WiiPower
How would I go about doing that? You're going to have to explain it a little more in-depth. What is NUS downloader? Where do I get it? What is WAD Manager? Where do I get it? How do I run these programs on my Wii?
Because... I'm afraid to just click "Yes" when it asks if I want to Install IOS56-64-V5405.wad on my Gecko OS menu when I try to load Sonic Colors.
There is more than just 1 I0S on there.
I'm afraid I just don't see it.
I guess I'm blind... sorry... :'(
Mind helping me out here? Please? Again, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
Try Multi-Mod Manager to install the IOS it's easy http://mmm4wii.posterous.com/
Ehm.. When you load the game with Gecko, it should ask you if it should install the correct IOS. (Since it is on the disc (unless you pirated it and removed the update from the disc))
If you just let Gecko install that IOS everything should be fine.

Really?!
Yeah... of course I didn't pirate it. I bought it from GameStop with my own money.
I was afraid to do that because I thought it was a Wii Firmware update or something like that.
Are you seriously sure that will work?!
If Gecko OS asks you to update, that's always ok. If you update via disc channel, then you might loose HBC or other stuff. And if you update via disc channel with an import game, then you brick, but inside Gecko OS it's ok to update IOS from import games.
About the programs i mentioned, check Google and/or WiiBrew.org.
Gecko OS will always attempt to install the IOS if it is not there at all. New games - as WiiPower mentioned - however will attempt to use new IOS versions and therefore you will need to install a new IOS56 manually.
In my eyes the easiest way is DopMii ( http://wiibrew.org/wiki/DOP-Mii:_WiiBrew_Edition ) however there are multiple ways as described here!
try neogamma newest version, it´s beast.
It could ALWAYS load every game I tried, even the ones, which didn´t work with any other disk game loader.
http://www.wii-homebrew.com/download/nintendo-wii-downloads/softmod/neogamma/download
basically the same like gecko os, only with more features at all (except channel booting)
*sighs*
I swear to god... nothing bad better not happen... because I don't have the money to buy another Wii...
I'll try clicking yes when I get the prompt and install IOS 56 that way. Hopefully... it'll work. My current way of getting codes might be time consuming, but, it's what I'm used to and it's really not all that awful. So... I think I'll stick to the current way I get my codes, put them on my SD Card, and getting it down to my Wii.
This topic isn't over however, because, I haven't tried it yet. I'll double post with the results of what happens if no one else posts after me.
Instead of the loader i thought that shouldn't be mentioned here, you could try Gecko OS mod:
http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,5823.0.html
But i don't really recommend that, because it uses IOS36 for all games and then tricks the game to not show the 002 error. If you run wii games with it, they are not run the way they are meant to be. If you use Gecko OS + Ocarina, that's also true, but closer to the way it should be.
[Gecko OS mod is meant to be used for gamecube import games and Ocarina on gamecube games]
Guess what?
It worked. Sonic Colors loaded fine, and, the codes were working.
The codes I'm using seem to constantly give me S ranks.
But hey, I'll take them. Maybe I'll get something special for getting all S ranks?
Thanks for the help guys. If anything happens again, I'll just come here.
Thank you times infinity. I honestly can't thank you guys enough.
Hopefully... you won't see me ever again.
However... you probably will... *sighs* Oh well.
For now... thanks again.
See you next time I have a problem!!!!!!!!
*sighs*
