Title: System Update?
Post by: willyjo423 on October 22, 2010, 04:12:16 PM
Yeah, I know- I know DO NOT UPDATE, right? Anyhow, here's my situation: I have already a 4.3 (after reformatting my wii system memory). I have NOT set-up my wii conect24. Yet when I put in my Metroid:Other M all you can see on the upper left hand corner of the main menu is sytem update. Instead of seeing the metroid icon there, you can just see the system update message. I put in my SSBB wii game and it reads it perfectly. The question is, do I do the system update first before installing the HBC again? If I don't do the update, then I cannot play my Metroid game. Please help me on what to do? Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

Once you install Gecko OS, you don't need the System Menu anymore to play games.  The only reason you should ever need the SM is when you need to do things like turn wifi on and off.

If you installed the latest HBC, however, it's safe to update anyway.

If M:OM wants to install a new IOS, it's okay.  Gecko OS reads only the new IOS from the update partition of the disc; it ignores the System Menu update.

but only, if you haven´t softmodded anything...
careful, it could brick your wii when failing there! (cios, cioscorp, system menu theme -> softmods)
