I played it.. it is very impressive for a fan game.. it only has 3 stages as of now, all of them can be played in less than 1 minute.. still: the developers really put effort into it.. and I have to laught:

SEGA promised they'd want to give back classic feel in a maxed out 2D style Sonic:
Before people whine: I do like Sonic 4, but I do not have any classic feeling when I play it.. why:
-controls messed up: leave the pad and he breaks immediately
-too many boosters.. more like Sonic Rush 3/Sonic Advance 4

Sonic Fan Remix strangely enough perfectly emulates classic gameplay feeling.

And when it comes to: SEGA maxes out 2D. Ohyeah?

Sonic 4:

Hm.. defenitely looks much more maxed out than the classics...

Just played this and it's pretty good. Sad that a single person doing this on their free time made something superior than a whole team funded could make. I like Sonic 4, by the way. But I prefer this.

Yeah, but its easier to imitate something and improve it than think of it all by yourself.
And you have to keep in mind that this is made for pc, which has much more possibilities.

Well, honestly.. the possibilities are there also on Wii.. the game might run very slowly however, it is a Mono/.NET based game which does not run natively on the platform.. so speed decreasing is natrual.. still most likely the Wii wouldn't be able to do such nice stuff.

I think the point is: SEGA manages to get Sonic 4 done.. and many complain MOSTLY about the control flaws which I can understand as a Sonic fan. Sonic is not supposed to stop when you leave the pad for three seconds (he slowed down SLOOOWLY in former times). And well.. that game emulates that behaviour well better and that's more of the point unfortunately.

I love the dark atmosphere of the graphics with the rain etc. Creates more emotion for the gamer imho.
