Nice stuff. I was interested in this after I saw it... and then I decided to try out hacking the text... I must say, it is rather fun.

During the process, I decided I'd make a list of the special symbols and their value to make them appear in-game text.

Anyways, if anyone ever decides to do something like a text hack for the game, here they are:

The text in-game is from 80E055C8 - 80E8795C.
1A050000 1F - Heart
1A050000 1E - Jagged "A" (Used when explaining a special move)
1A050000 1D - Control Stick Left-Right
1A050000 1C - Control Stick Down-Up
1A050000 1B - Control Stick Right
1A050000 1A - Control Stick Left
1A050000 19 - Control Stick Down
1A050000 18 - Control Stick Up
1A050000 17 - Down Arrow
1A050000 16 - Up Arrow
1A050000 15 - Right Arrow
1A050000 14 - Left Arrow
1A050000 13 - Control Stick
1A050000 12 - DPad
1A050000 11 - Z
1A050000 10 - Y
1A050000 0F - X
1A050000 0E - R
1A050000 0D - L
1A050000 0C - C-Stick
1A050000 0B - B
1A050000 0A - A

Heh yea i found all those too you're missing all the color codes and font resizers ;)

I dont want to look in my gct, but theres a couple of speeches with the King of Red Lions where you can get all of the color and figure out the font/size changer

By the way it is common in a game to have these types of shortcuts in there as it is difficult for the game to inject individual pictures. Most games have a set of buttons programmed into them. Like MKWii, Call of Duty, and SA2B to name a few.

I dont know if this is coincidence or not, but I might as well say it.

In Call of Duty and in Wind Waker for the fonts they go in the same order.
00 = default
01 = red
02 = green
03 = blue
04 = yellow
05 = cyan
06 = magenta
07 = grey
08 = level alternate (changes in CoD, orange from what i've seen in WW)
09 = 2nd level alternate (in WW white, changes in CoD)
In call of duty it's done by ^(number) so in hex its 5E3X which is because they wanted to let people use it in multiplayer.

In WW its all hex, but theres probably a correlation :\

To use the colors in WW:
1A06FF0000 XX

the x's are in the spoiler above
and to put your character's name:
1A07000000 07

or

1A04000000 07

the second one stops the text (yes options too >.< it makes you select the first one), while the first one will add it over the phrase. like soup becomes Linkoup when on 1A07... it overwrites 1 letter. By making it 1A08 it overwrites 2 letters and becomes Linkup. 09 overwrites 3 and so on... 1A0600... will overwrite no letters
This is the Quake 3 colors codes

(And as far as I know, yellow is before blue)

well if they use look up tables then that makes sense. but i may have switched blue and yellow on my list. :\

It makes sense seeing as CoD uses a quake engine. :o
