Title: automatic updates?
Post by: Sharkbyte on July 17, 2010, 12:43:49 PM
People on youtube and other sites have said wiis can automatically update. Is that true or a bunch of crap they are giving us? They said it can update when wiiconnect24 is on. If it is true, would it just go straight to the update screen and just click the button for ya? Is this like a pc with automatically updates on, or a bunch of lies? and if it is true wouldn't my wii have already updated by now?     ???

If you don't see a red light when you turn the Wii off, then it's in a standby mode where it is connected to WiiConnect.

I would say that it's strictly possible to update without your consent, but I don't think Nintendo would do that; the legality of such a move is debatable, especially given the multiple jurisdictions under which they sell their product.

Still, though, I went in and disabled WiiConnect24, because I don't like the yellow LED.  When I turn the Wii off, I want it *off*.
