Title: USBGecko issue
Post by: matt123337 on July 16, 2010, 08:50:37 PM
Today I go to use my USBGecko, I plug it into my computer and all of a sudden i get an error message:
If any of you know me.... I freaked out.  So I clicked the error message and got:

I almost crapped my pant's when I saw the "replace the device" part :(
then I clicked the Unknown Device and got the following:

I still don't know what's wrong, and I can't buy a new USBGecko, and this one was working fine yesterday :( anyone care to help me?

I've had this problem a while ago, but after a few weeks it started working again and I don't know what the problem was and how it got fixed.
You might try to reinstall the drivers or try another computer.

This happens to me all the time. I just unplug it, turn the Wii off, blow into the Gecko and then plug it all back in. It should work.

nope, didn't work :( but it's weird, 1 USB port sometimes picks it up :S

If that didnt work, you could try plugging it in and out until it reads it. I generally do that if my first suggestion doesnt work.

Otherwise, you'll have to wait and hope for the best.

Since they're not being made anymore, I wish there was an alternative solution to USB Gecko. =(

You you using windows? My usb gecko only works fully if i connect it to a certain usb port. You should know that most usb devices into another usb port are completely different devices in the eyes of windows?

WiiPower is right, when a USB device without a serial number is attached, Windows will use the USB port to create a unique identifier for the driver stack.  If you change which port it's plugged into, it will ask for the drivers again.

I'm officially stupid.  I think it was the cord :|  Then again, I couldn't find a different one, but I got it working now :)
