Are you sure it's 1.9.3?  If so, try 1.9.3.1.  Might make a difference.

What region are you in America, Japan, EU, or AU? make sure you use the right regional codes, there is some universal codes for all regions if your not sure.
Are you using a usb gecko/usb device or an sd card? I'm pretty sure your doing most of the right things...

So you would be using the NTSC-U codes, make sure you have the game's ID as SB4E01.
Did you buy the game in America?

I don't think it matters but did you buy your wii in the us? What version homebrew channel do you own?
I don't know what's wrong... :-\ Like I said, try limiting your codes it might help you.

Normaly the hook would just be set to default. Try that because I have mine on default for every game I play and it works.

Sorry to dig up an old topic but did you get any positive results?  I get black screen - does anyone think it could be down to my menu?  It's 4.0U - upgrade or downgrade maybe?  HBC is quite old now but (I'm an offliner) and don't know how to upgrade the HBC.  Would that maybe make a difference?

Well if an update hasn't come automaticaly to your HBC, which happened to me unexpectedly, then you can go here after updating your wii to 4.3 (if you want to) to see how to install the HBC on a 4.3 menu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ8FP8ClcZk
