When SMG2 updated my Wii, it stubbed IOS222, 223, 249 and 250. So, I tried to delete them, and then I installed cIOSrev 17. (For GCBackup Launcher with Gecko) It all worked fine. So, I went to the System Menu and it didnt say System Update in the Disc Channel.
So, I ejected the game and tried the backup launcher and booted Gamecube Gecko OS.
Soonafter, I went to play SMG2... It told me I had to update my Wii.
So... I did, and it deleted my cIOS...
Any ideas on how to restore cIOS functionality?
If the game detects missing or outdated IOS versions, it will ask for an update, even if you already did it before. If you delete IOS versions that it installs, it will try to install them back on. It will also ask when a "custom" IOS version is lower than the stub version that it wants to install.
To stop it from asking for an update, you either need to just let it install all the updated files, have the custom IOS list a higher version number than the stub version, or use something like StartPatch (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/StartPatch) to patch the System Menu, so it doesn't require you to perform a disc update. Keep in mind that you will still need the IOS version that the game uses. For Super Mario Galaxy 2, I believe IOS56 is used. Use the latest version of GeckoOS to download just IOS56, or whatever IOS it uses.
If you try the StartPatch method, keep in mind that since it patches your System Menu, you could potentially brick your console if something goes wrong. If possible, I would recommend installing BootMii to boot2 (http://www.bootmii.org), and making a NAND backup before proceeding, if you haven't done so already. Remember that BootMii as IOS is not very useful for brick protection, but even if that is all you can do, you should still make a NAND backup, and save it and the keys.
You may want to ask someone else about brick protection if you can't install BootMii as boot2, as I'm not too familiar with others. BootMii as boot2 would be the best, though.
Just don't run it via the disc channel
Hi guys my name is mysticremen11 ive been to this alot of times but now i needed to create an account and im having some trouble getting my burnt copy of super mario galaxy 2 to work i dont know what i need to do ive used start patch ive done all i know all my other burnt games work but smg2 doesnt i followed 111 mini-tutorial and i couldnt get it to work so if some one can help me id really appreciate it
