umm i tried gecko os with my games and it works fine, but when i put backup games, it dont work. anyone know why?
Gecko OS does not support backups. It is designed that way on purpose.
ahhh, so is there a app that will let me run backup games and still use codes?
I'm sorry but we won't provide information on how to run backups.
oh ok, thx anyways!
Not to be nitpicky or anything...but it sounds to me like the guy is asking for info on how to *get codes to work* with backups ...not how to run backups. ...Which seems like a fair query to me. ...It doesn't really appear to require you to break from your principles to answer that particular angle of question.
They just don't feel that they should assist with making things compatible with the use of "backups", hence GeckOS being designed NOT to work with backup launchers/tools, and nor should they.
Everyone here is dedicated to hacking and coding in a legitimate and acceptable fashion. No piracy, no theft, not even "borrowing" any code from nintendo. The homebrew scene already has enough to contend with as it is and, I say this with respect, nobody knows if he even owns the games of which he has backups of - It's a very grey area.
I have Mario Kart Wii (NTSC-US [RMCE01]) and have custom tracks I want to use but no matter where i put the file with patches and no matter what i name file with patches i cant get them 2 load ??? ??? ??? What is file name and where do i put it. if anything code RIIVOLUTION into Gecko OS but make it load patches in folder with game's ID (in root of sd)
This guy might have a legit reason, Like his dvd are broken, Or he bought the games and just prefers to have them all on HDD (Like me)
Or not... ;D

yeah i have some really fun custom tracks but tried 15 different names/locations but nothing worked (like said in first post :P ^-^) ???
I have a problem that whenever I edit codes via the code manager on my pc it goes *file path/name of file/location of file* .txt empty? is something wrong with my cheat manager app? Cause I can't use the custom codes my friend sent me, though they may be for the Europe version of brawl and not the us version -_-''
EDIT: What I mean is I get the error mentioned above when I open the txt file in the cheat manager on my wii...
Why not just use the online gct creator? =|

Hmm I've tried importing the gct code and the txt codes and still nothing, mostly cause these are custom and tested/working codes from a friend on youtube. For example
Unrestricted replay camera: (gives
completely free camera control while watching replays)
Some texture hacks...
And a few other things. But maybe it is due to the version of the game, ya know cause the game id ends with E in his
If the game ID doesn't match what's on the disk, then it won't work.
The US SSBB ID is RSBE01. The gct file must be named "RSBE01.gct" for any codes to work.
And you can add any codes to the online gct creator that you want.
Alright I'll try that then and add the other codes from the online database that I need (if any lol) later on :3
I figured it was a name thing, cuz it don't have any problem with the codes I download from the code downlader even though it's the title of the actual game.txt rather than the game id.
Thanks for tha help :D
The title of the txt = Game ID

I've tried doing the game id and everything. It happens with all games when I add custom codes to the list provided by the Code Downloader or the online database. I think I'll just ask somebody to port them over to the US version since the codes my friend sent me were probably for the Europe version. (it inds with an E for the game id, I'm assuming that means Europe?)

I've tried that and still nothing, at least when I alter the code list in ANY form even if I do it manually etc etc. Well I just reinstalled
everything on an SD that was in better shape than the other one was. That didn't work either...
wait, do I name it with or without the quotes on both the txt and the gct file?
EDIT: okay, my pinnical capture device was just sitting there bored so I made a video of my problem. hope it helps: http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2a8qccl&s=6 I picked a relaxing song to help me relax xD
That's not a text file.
Use the online gct creator, select your codes, download it. DON'T CHANGE THE EXTENSION TO TXT LIKE YOU DID THERE, save the .gct file to your sd card in the "codes" folder.
SD:\codes\RSBE01.gct
Start the game from Gecko OS.

Okay, I can't seem to get brawl to work, so I'll try that with the metroid codes then thanks for the asistance X_X I'm just glad the video helped simplify it a little, lol I never was good at wording things :D
EDIT: I tried the metroid codes that way and they work, but it auto vents on inf hypermode, I'm going to try the brawl codes now using the gct thing.

The first 3 letters are the games actual id the last letter is to show NTSC-US (E) NTSC-J (J) PAL (P) and the number I think tells the version.
ALL TOGETHER YOU GET THE FULL GAME ID AND GCT NAME PROGRAMS LIKE OCARINA AND GECKO OS SHOW ID DURING GAME BOOT
