Hi there, I was wondering, how exactly do you Hack a Gamecube game with USB Gecko? I do have a mod chip installed, and it isn't a "backup" game. It's the original Super Mario Sunshine. I don't have a clue why it doesn't work. :-\ ??? I can play "backup" games just fine with this Modchip, so, how come I can't Hack Gamecube games yet? I do have the option in Gecko OS (Debugger) turned ON. Is there something else that needs to be done? Thanks.
Not sure whether this will help you or not, in case you have not read it:

it would help, if the files weren't dead for ntsc-u region, or any region for that matter.

Gecko OS 1.06d PAL disc: http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/gcospal16d.zip
Gecko OS 1.06d NTSC-U disc: http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/gcosusa16d.zip
Gecko OS 1.06d NTSC-J disc: http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/gcosjap16d.zip
This almost worked. I guess having Wii menu 4.2U has something to do with it? As I do see the Gecko OS screen, it's just, there are no options or nothing. I then tried to insert my Gamecube game disc anyways, hoping that something would happen, and obviously nothing happened, lol. Any idea's? Thanks.
Do you have a GC memory card in your Wii?
Yes I do, should I not?
[edit]
After taking out my Gamecube Memory Card, and only having my USB Gecko Connected, I did manage to get to the actual menu. However, I can not use the Usb Gecko yet. I tried clicking on Launch Game, hoping it would say to insert the Disc, it didn't, so I just took the disc out, and put in Super Mario Sunshine while at the menu. I then proceeded to Launch the Game again, and it launched, it's just, I still can't use my USB Gecko. ???
downgrade to an earlier fw

Can you connect to the USB Gecko when you're in the menu (is the green icon on the lower left)?
The icon is green after I switched the location of the USB Gecko. I had it in Slot A, which would not recognize it (through the Boot CD), to slot B, and then the icon is lit up (after I restarted the Wii) and still nothing.
[edit]
I have done the following:
1. Insert the Gecko OS Boot cd.
2. Made sure the USB Gecko was in Slot B.
3. Booted the Disc, and seen that the Bottom left Icon was Green.
4. Removed the Boot disc, and Inserted my Game.
5. Opened WiiRd GUI and it begins to boot the game automatically.
6. It launched the game Paused.
7. WiiRd GUI asked me the name of the Game, I entered: Super Mario Sunshine.
8. I press "Run Game" on WiiRd GUI and the game Resumes, and I lose connection with the USB Gecko. WiiRd keep trying to reset the Driver (apparently).
9. No Success. :(
Try a different game; Super Mario Sunshine (NTSC-U) doesn't work for me either.
Well, super Mario sunshine is the only game I want to hack and I'm not entirally sure if my other games work. I'll update once I get my computer up and work again, I think the hard drive died.
Did you try the different hooktypes? (i hope the old Gecko OS allows to choose it)
Anyways, wouldn't it be possible to run the old Gecko OS with a MIOS that is modified to allow gamecube homebrew? If this exists, is somebody willing to point me in the right direction?

You could try the method detailed here (http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,4803.msg42141.html#msg42141); not sure if it will work, but it's worth a shot.

Might not be your preference, but if you use the cMIOS or whatever is used to load GC backups, you can load the Gecko OS gamecube ISO's (posted above). I think there's a guide for that somewhere on these forums.
No i didn't mean that cMIOS, i meant the modified MIOS that boots a gc homebrew .dol directly.

If I remember correctly, that locks up the DVD drive which is why I mentioned the cMIOS, not that.
I still haven't been able to have any luck with this. Has anyone been able to do it?
Well, i have success using my USB Gecko on Nintendo GameCube console.
I use SD Media Launcher to boot Gecko OS (GameCube Edition).
Before turning on your GameCube plug in you USB Gecko into mem card slot B and the SDML with SD card in slot a. Power on your GameCube and after that, boot Gecko OS. After Gecko OS has been booted launch the game. At least you have to start WiiRdGUI and it will be connected correctly.
I also uploaded a turorial on YouTube. It explains everything step by step.^^

And after Gecko OS has been loaded, You can swap the memory card in slot a ;)
But i have a question, too. How do i convert Gecko codes to AR Codes?
So the codes will work after i encrypted them in GCNcrypt. ???

Most codes should be able to be encrypted in GCNcrypt. (As long as they are simple RAM writes.)

Oh wow, necro post.
To clarify, most Gecko codetypes are not convertible to AR codetypes easily. The 00/02/04 codetypes are the same as AR though, so if a Gecko code consists of only those codetypes, it's safe to treat as an AR code (e.g. with GCNcrypt). You might also try GCARS, which is a free AR simulator for GameCube (same codetypes) which doesn't require the codes to be encrypted. If you have a broadband adapter, you can also load AR codes from your PC.
Also, to anyone stumbling across this thread: this thread is out of date; to cheat/debug GameCube games on a Wii, you want GeckoOS Mod.
Ok, thanks for the answers. But the code was a simple RAM write. Poking it with WiiRdGUI worked fine, but as i tested it on AR nothing happened.
AR sometimes needs you to add 0x8000 to the address of a simple ram write in order to work.
(there's a specific memory range you need to do this on.. I don't remember exactly though)
(sry for late answer)
It didn't work. But i found the problem.
I just restarted searching the code, and the address has been changed.
First time it was 80BFE584
2nd time 80BFE744
3rd time 80BFE484
So I think I have to convert the code into a "struct write"
I just had a look to the Kodewerx' EnHacklopedia. But i do not really understand it at all how to convert a code into a Struct Write..
Can someone help me please?
er, if you're using AR, it will be difficult to get help here. This forum is dedicated to WiiRD code types, so knowledge of AR code types is hard to come by.
For the WiiRD code types, it looks like you'd need to do a pointer code.
ok, i tried to ask on ar central's forum, and they helped me^^ there's a programm called gcnpcc which is able to calculate these codes^^
but thanks anyway

gcnpcc is the last one there ^
in case anyone stumbles on this thread looking for similar help.
