Title: Another noob question sorry...
Post by: Hitman12 on January 01, 2010, 02:33:22 AM
Thank you everyone for answering my previous questions I appreciate it.  I need help with locking in an address.

I did a 32 bit search and found the value of health in Super paper Mario.  It was:  804CEA34 0000270F (this would make the health 9999).  I wend to the Wiird cheat code document and found that to lock a 32 bit value at the b.a. you need the 04 prefix.  So i put 04 in instead of 08 and the code looked like this:   044CEA34 0000270F.  When I enabled the code it didn't work.  I also found I didn't need a pointer because the address didn't change between the different worlds so I dont need a terminator line correct?  So does any know why the value doesn't even change or lock when I enable the code?  Thanks.

So 804CEA34 is the address of the health value, right? If so, and if it's true that you don't need a pointer, maybe the game has some anti-fiddling code (like I believe mario galaxy has?) that sets the health back. Does it change when you poke it?

I wouldn't know how to circumvent the anti-fiddling stuff, but I think dexter's tutorial vids discussed it.

Actually, I have this same problem in One Piece Unlimited Adventure. When you poke it, it doesnt change, and when you make the code to set HP to max, it just doesnt do anything.

If it's the same case then poking it won't do anything either :/

This happens to me alot, it's because you have the grahics address, and not the actuall HP address

How do you observe the value changing to see weither you've found the functional or cosmetic value get down to very low health then poke it back to full & if the the on screen health indicator changes but you still die after taking a little more damage then you've found the cosmetic value, to find the functional value search in the other memory range
