well as weve heard not sure if its fixed that the update for 4.2 willd estroy all hombrew and fix it well there little lure to use was this letter sent to me on dec 17th it reads On september 1st,2009, nitendo changed the wii point for wii internet channle from 500 to 0 and if u have purchesed this channel before this has happened we r offering u one free ness game from the virtual console catalog worth 500 wii points -the res its junk- offer ends 12/31/09 i think this was there little lure to get us to update for bye bye hombrew
lol wut I'm sure nintendo is aware that VC games can be pirated, That is simply what they say it is a reimbursement for those who paid $5 for the IC because they ultimately decided to make it free

I think it is also a lure to let people know how easy it is to buy a game in the Shop Channel, so to get people buy stuff in the Shop Channel.
I think it is similar to the free samples of food you can get at the market, something like that.

Well, you can Update the WiiShop-Channel using WiiSCU http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiSCU (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiSCU)
So i had no need to update the entire Wii, to use the newer Shop-Channel.
