hello im having trouble loading the new avatar game, ive got a jap wii that has a wiikey but i use gecko os 1.9.1 but when i load it the screen goes green and freezes. any help would be greatly apprecaited
cheers
Do you use the latest version of Gecko (http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,3228.0.html)?
What Romaap proposed!
Does it happen for all games? If not, which game is affected.. in some cases Gecko OS just can't run a certain game!
i upgraded gecko from 1.9.1.to 1.9.3 and it still freezes, the game is the new avatar but i think it might be because its been scrubbed or trimed, wouldthat affect it loading?
cheers
trimming or scrubbing normally has no influence.. you'd be best of to try another hooking method in the options!
Edit: I just checked.. do you use the USA version.. that one was nuked.. so it might be a bad rip!
The 2 main causes for green screen freeze are:
Forcing a video mode...
Patching 002 with a main.dol patch
Modchip users do very often one or both.
ive tried to force ntsc and both pal 50 & 60 but didnt think hooks would make a difference, ill try it
cheers

ive all the different hooks and forcing and its still the same, i think it was a bad dump i think ill try a different 1
cheers
Well,I checked again.. I assume you use a copy.. (I do not care whether it's legal or not). Avatar is supposed to contain the same copy protection New Super Mario Bros Wii has.. so that might be a reason.. does the game boot without Gecko OS?
no if i try to load it the normal way the screen goes black (ive had a lot games do that, that why i started using gecko and this is the first time ive had any problems)
how would i get around the proctection if that is the case
I have the same problem using a retail version of WII Sport Resort (PAL bought in France) with an NTSC US console.
If I don't force NTSC I have a black and white and wobbly picture, if I do force NTSC I have a green screen.

Then only video mode patches can help you. Since you are using a retail disc, patching the disc is not an option for you i guess. NeoGamma allows to patch video modes on retail discs, but you need a cIOS installed for it. Maybe if you are on 4.1 or lower it works anyway, because loading IOS249 just fails. If you want to try it, select force NTSC and try the different video mode patch options.
PS: Video mode patches do not work for all games, so if you use video mode patches and it still is black&white or freezes, there's nothing else than another tv you can do.
