Title: Must I have Gecko USB to make codes?
Post by: Drenn on November 23, 2009, 08:54:21 PM
I can't seem to find a straight answer to this anywhere, so here it goes. Is there a way to make cheats on wii, VC or Wiiware games without Gecko USB or whatever it is? I remember having lots of fun making codes with a gameshark and I'm wondering if there's a channel or a PC application or something I could install to make codes.

From what i've heard, I think you need the USB gecko in order to make codes.I am not to sure though. :-\

I also think you need that wiird gui program too

Well that's annoying. But could I get an answer from someone who's actually used it?

yea, you need the usb part to view the memory and search etc

That seems strange. Why couldn't there be a homebrew application that could, say, save everything that's going on at one moment and let you view it, therefore helping to make codes? Of course I'm no expert but I thought it would be possible to make a channel for this sort of thing. But whatever, I admit defeat.

While searching for addresses in RAM to hack, we have to "download" the RAM a couple of times and compare the values (the comparison is done by WiiRDGUI automatically) sometimes this takes a lot of "downloads".
I think it could be possible for Gecko to save the RAM to the SD card or USB instead of streaming it to the PC directly via the USBGecko, so you can compare the values later when put the SD card or USB in your computer.
But then someone has to write something for Gecko to access the SD card, which looks very hard to me.

But if it is possible, I think it would take a lot of time to save the RAM all those times then compare, if you know what I mean :)

Yeah, I can see why that wouldn't work very well that way. Oh well, why should I complain, using cheats in the first place is a privilage!
Thanks everybody.
