Title: Help with Wii version 3.3u
Post by: Hitman12 on November 17, 2009, 10:56:12 PM
I am trying to get the homebrew channel on my friends Wii.  I already installed it on mine using a 4 gb sd card (not made by nintendo).  I have version 4.1.  On my friends Wii who has version 3.3u, the wii cannot read the sd card (same sd card i used).  Is this because it is a older wii firmware and doesnt support sd cards bigger than 2gb??  Do you suggest jst spending the money on a 2gb nintendo sd card?

If I remember correctly, the 4.0 firmware added support for SDHC cards.  Any firmware lower than that will not be able to read it.  Therefore, yes, you will need a 2GB SD Card in order to install the Homebrew Channel on that Wii.

You could also the Wii to 4.0 or higher, although I would NOT recommend it.  I believe that 'New Super Mario Brothers Wii' has the 4.1 firmware.

i would recommend to get to 4.1 since he never had the home brew channel so no soft core deleter would be added to prevent and delete the home brew channel and its instillation
