Title: GeckoOS 1.9.2 iOS selectable??
Post by: g6flavor on September 08, 2009, 01:43:58 AM
1. When I load GeckoOS 1.9.2 ios249 is always used, it is possible to change it to ios222?
2. Is it possible to use Rebooter to hook WiiWare games for hacking with usbgecko?

1. I don't think there is. However it would be very easy for the programmers to fix that in the next version.
2. You can launch and hook VC/WiiWare titles with Gecko 1.9.2, however you do need to be able to use the rebooter (i.e. Menu 3.2, trucha-patched IOS36) and there wil be a "Launch VC title" button in the menu.

I want to load the VC/WiiWare titles from the Wii Menu, not from the geckoOS's Launch Channel list, installing the trucha-patched IOS36 will let me do that, and is it possible to make it work on Wii 4.1 firmware? But, googling "Launch VC title" doesn't yield any results.

To launch from the System Menu you need to use the rebooter which IIRC only works on Menu version 3.2 and lower. So using it with version 4.1 is impossible (for now).

WRONG! to use the rebooter all you have to do is have a trucha bug enabled IOS36 (im running 4.1 and I can reboot), and no loading VC games via rebooter does not work! (as far as I know at least...) and I asked birkrich a while ago if he could put in IOS selection and he said most likly not due to piracy (something about being able to load burned games via cIOS249...) but that could change now that the source has been released...

It's too late. I read somewhere that there was a Gecko OS that could launch backups. (piracy)

ya, that would be the Gecko OS 1.7b source code... not Gecko 1.8+

It was not GeckoOS but a modification of it (aka Backup Launcher).

Yes, there is an option for the gameconfig.txt file that exists for the purpose of telling Gecko OS which IOS to use:
Quote[value] startupios - Specify the IOS to switch to when starting Gecko OS.

Example:
startupios = 36
Always load IOS 36 when starting Gecko OS (the default unless IOS 36 does not support channel loading).

No, and it is unlikely I will change it (it does not seem to be worth it).
