Title: Usb Drive Help

Well ive been usin my usb for ages, like from schoolwork to storing photo's

Then suddenly tonight it decides it needs to be formatted.

Anyone have any idea how i could restore my work and photo's?

there is software that can recover data from formatted/unusable partitions and drives.

You might want to look into that. It costs around 50$ though.

Hmm i might need to become a pirate for a day, or find a trial that lets u rip any file size.

I've had a similar problem with memory cards before.  Don't format the drive because it probably really doesn't need to be formatted.  What I would do with the memory card was to remove it from the computer, put it back in the camera and verify that it was still working in the camera, and then put it back in the computer.  It could be an OS fluke causing it to come up as needing to be formatted and it may not repeat if you reboot your OS.  But that's assuming that it's just a fluke causing it and not an actual problem.

What sometimes help: download a Linux Boot CD from knopper.net and boot it.. Linux uses different methods of accessing FAT/NTFS drives and those sometimes are able to mount devices WIndows refused to mount!

If you are lucky, then the file could still be on the drive.
You could recover it with an application.
Just google file recovery, or something like that.

ultimate boot _ let's you boot up a XP shell it runs off the CD works very well
