Title: Can Gecko OS boot games from USB?
Post by: rob356 on June 03, 2009, 02:05:33 AM
So I have a bunch of games (THAT I OWN!!!) on a USB drive hooked up to my wii. I currently use the USB coverflow loader to boot these games, and wanted to know if there was a way to have Gecko OS load these games off of USB. The reason I use a USB drive is so I don't have to juggle around disks, and they load at least 2x faster. So can Gecko OS boot games from a USB drive?

Ok, so is this planned for a future release, or is it just DVD's forever? I would really like to be able to use cheats on the games running off the HD. I guess I can still use the game disks though.

I thought there was an USB loader with ocarina implemented somewhere... I think it was something like Ultimate USBloader or something, just google it.

99% of all USB loaders contain the code handler of Gecko OS 1.07b - but not the 1.8 code handler

yeah, faster loading + no more searching for disc because your little brother doesn't know how to use a cover properly = win :D

Would it be possible to use WiiRD with a game booted off usb by loading up gecko OS > rebooter > usb loader channel > boot game?

If not, does this mean you can only use WiiRD on games directly booted from Gecko OS?

I assume WiiRd could connect if you use a backup loading including the gecko loader if you just launch the game from a channel

Wow somehow I got WiiRD to work with a USB loader. It's definitely connected to my fire emblem game.

aaah. the program/software work itself without the need of usbgecko 1.9. Give it a shot! Once you loaded your game, just open up WiiRD and it should detect right away.

First of all: please read the FAQ. No piracy support. And the USB loader is potential piracy, accept it or not. However, the reason here is simple: WiiRd cannot hook to all games. The loader is not perfect. If you hit an incompatible game then WiiRd won't be able to use it.
