I've been using gecko 1.7 to load SSBB (brawl+) for awhile now. Recently i installed gecko 1.9.0.1 and now it starts to load up the game and apply SD codes but gives me a 'Disc Read Error' and then i get booted back to the main menu. It works for all other games just not SSBB. And it worked in the earlier versons. I've tried booting it with and without the codes and I get the same result.
you are better off with 1.07 as it's more stable than buggy 1.9 imo

The error means exactly what it says; there was an error reading the disc. This can occur for one of two reasons:
- The IOS that the game uses is damaged or has been altered in some way and is not working correctly.
- Reading the disc is failing for some reason; in the case of SSBB this could be because your Wii disc drive has difficulty reading double layer discs.
In your case it is likely to just be a disc read error, you may just need to retry loading the disc until it works.

Again, the problem is that some of the IOS on your Wii aren't working correctly, you just need to reinstall them if you want to fix the problems you are having with Gecko 1.9. The next version will include an option to reinstall the inserted game's IOS so hopefully that will be an easy fix for your problems.

I would take that for an answer, but, how come the game will work fine for me with Gecko OS 1.7, and then for 1.9 it does the same thing the OP said in this topic for me?

Not sure exactly why... but anyway it doesn't really matter because I came up with a fix for the problem. Next version should make the disc read error impossible to get when loading SSBB (or rather, impossible to get for any game that runs under the same IOS as Gecko; should be IOS36 which is what SSBB uses).
Good to know the problem has been solved. ;D
Fixed in Gecko 1.9.1:
