Title: Problem Burning SSBB - Please Help
Post by: Brooklyn on August 08, 2008, 07:51:03 PM
Hi:

I extracted the ISO for SSBB using geckoripper tool.  The iso file size was the correct size.  I then followed the instructions I found in the forums to burn the iso to a DL disk and specifying the layer break.  I used image burn as specified in the instructions.  I tried 3 times, but only got 3 expensive coasters.  I used verbatim DVD+R DL media.  The Wii could not recognize the backup disk.  I have an Argon mod chip (13 wire install) with the latest 1.8 firmware.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would much appreciate it.

Thanks

Hello all:

Well it seems that the Gecko crapped out on me.  I extracted the Super Smash Bros. Brawl ISO using Friidump, and successfully burned it using ImageBurn to a Verbatim DVDR+DL.

Anyone else have problems backing up using the Gecko?

Now I'm thinking of just selling the Gecko and getting rid of it...a disappointment.

It's not really for backups though is it? Yes it can do that but it gets far more use debugging and code building via WiiRd
Title: Thats why I bought the Gecko....

The only reason I bought the Gecko was to make backups of my games....the rest of the functionality is just an afterthought....after all, who really cares about the crap freeware games?  I was previously making backups using Rawdump, but that hasn't been updated and can't recognize DL games such as SSBB.  I found out about Friidump only after I bought the Gecko...otherwise I would never have bought it to begin with.

As for the development issue, well, I'm not a programmer and will likely never be one....

Besides, one of the main selling points of the Gecko is the ability to make backups....and if it doesn't work for that purpose, I guess that is misleading.
