Title: N64 Gameshark to Wii Ocarina code converter
Post by: supermariorick on May 01, 2009, 04:36:42 AM
If this was possible, all of the hacks previously made thru gameshark on some of the N64 virtual console games would be easier to have, instead of having to use the remote debugging tool to remake the codes for the games. I offer this as a suggestion as a PC utility, and this would be very useful. Since some of the virtual console games have already been hacked from older devices, why not just convert the codes and save some time in finding them?

If there were a standard base pointer (offset) then it would be easy. As far as I know there is not. The reason being, I did base some of my hacks on existing codes from various devices and when you find one, you can usually use the offsets to find others, but I have not found a consistent base pointer where I can just convert the codes. I am not sure if one exists, but from the different games I have looked at across various systems, there does not seem to be any. It would sure save a ton of time as most of the VC games have codes already from gameshark, action replay, etc. so it would be simple - unfortunately sometimes things aren't as easy as it seems.

In some games even after you find the offset for 1 code it's completely different for the next.

Sometimes nintendo has to modify the rom inside the VC game in order to get it to be emulated on the wii..

This probably causes shifts in values and whatnot. So it's probable for some games, (each having different offsets) but i doubt that it could even be made for all.
