Now that Gecko 1.9 has VC and WiiWare support we're having a public forum for those.. right now they are in this forum, language mixed.. please check that the last letter of a game code is most likely referring to your region. Those are (table from http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Title_database (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Title_database) ):
| ASCII | Region |
| A | All regions. System channels like the Mii channel use it. |
| D | German-speaking regions. Only if separate versions exist, e.g. Zelda: A Link to the Past (JADD) |
| E | USA/Canada and other NTSC regions except Japan |
| F | French-speaking regions. Only if separate versions exist, e.g. Zelda: A Link to the Past. (JADF) |
| J | Japan |
| K | Korea |
| L | Japanese Import to Europe, Australia and other PAL regions |
| M | American Import to Europe, Australia and other PAL regions |
| N | Japanese Import to USA and other NTSC regions |
| P | Europe, Australia and other PAL regions |
| Q | Korea with Japanese language. |
| T | Korea with English language. |
| X | Not a real region code. Homebrew Channel uses it, though. |
The poll above will remain active for 14 days.. then action will be taken! And no, it's unlikely to make a new area for VC/WW codes with region splitup! Those would be merged to EU/NA/JP areas then!
Additional note: replying here should be possible now.. I won't vote this is going to be a user/mod decision!
I like it just the way it is, a separate board for all WiiWare/VC
this may sound bizzare but this is how i think it should be.
Virtual console as a separate board with 2 child boards: codes and support
WiiWare as a separate board with 2 child boards: codes and support.
i think it should be the same as other code threads: PAL, JAP, and USA All serperate Support and Codes Seperate in each one.
problem is channels are split into 14 sub catergories, i.e its not just PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J, theres much more
true, meh the way it is now is good enough
Due to the several region codes of VC and Wiiware games, I'd say the current system is fine. If needed in the future, you could then split up VC and Wiiware into their own boards.
Well, true about that.. with region codes.. we couldn't seperate them completely.. on a more serious note:
All region codes which have appeared so far are D, P, E and J I guess.. so we could so far keep the current system.. D (Germany) would have to be mixed into PAL codes.. same for F codes and such..
And as long as noone hacks the Mii Channel ;)
I don't mind all the regions being grouped into one, but I think WiiWare and VC should be seperated. Since there are also injected games, it would probably best to make a sub group for Injected VC aswell.

I happily seperate WiiWare and VC but I do not think supporting injected VC games would be a very good idea.. I'll give that to a discussion however.
Most injected VC games are (fact!) illegal because they kinda steal the apploader of another game you maybe did not buy and such.. and well.. WAD stuff like that is not allowed here for legal reasons!
Injected games can also cause issues, all you need is a different rom rip or one thats slightly off and all the codes will be different.
Isn't that "Super Smash Bros." Jassim made codes for injected, too? At least I've never heard of an official VC release by Nintendo yet...

The game ID for it (NA9J) would indicate that the game is a JAP game, and Super Smash Brothers for the N64 has been released on the Virtual Console in Japan...

but jassim's a pirate and wouldn't know weather it was the real NTSC-J or if it had a NTSC rom injected -.-
guys just test the codes i made, if they dont work, then sorry about it and ill remove them, if they do work, ill keep them there if thats fine with everyone

not that people really care - most important is.. if codes are tested non-working they should be removed..

ok fine, ill just remove them, sorry im such a retarded pirate that got this game PURELY for making codes and sorry i made the effort to TRY and make some codes for this game for the sake of japanese wii owners. for your information this has been released in japan, my codes are crap (i admit it myself) but seriously if theyre that bad that you want them removed from the forum then all you had to do was ask.
Well, it would be easier, if it were also separated in Regions.
Also some Games are not working on the Wii itself with several codes, like my problem with SimCityCreator, having the MoneyCode from DrPepper only working in (non-standard)english Language.

dude leave him alone. He is contributing to the code section. Who cares if he pirated some $10 N64 game, just to make codes? I think he has done no wrong.
I would prefer if we just make an additional subforum for VC/WW cheats on every region board, mixing them up would just be a serious pain in the ass for everybody and nobody would benefit from it.
theres about 14 regions so be my guest :P
perhaps we could have J, U, P and other?
A All regions. System channels like the Mii channel use it.
D German-speaking regions. Only if separate versions exist, e.g. Zelda: A Link to the Past (JADD)
E USA/Canada and other NTSC regions except Japan
F French-speaking regions. Only if separate versions exist, e.g. Zelda: A Link to the Past. (JADF)
I Itallian
J Japan
K Korea
L Japanese Import to Europe, Australia and other PAL regions
M American Import to Europe, Australia and other PAL regions
N Japanese Import to USA and other NTSC regions
P Europe, Australia and other PAL regions
Q Korea with Japanese language.
S Spanish
T Korea with English language.
X Not a real region code. Homebrew Channel uses it, though.
Ok, I was thinking have it split Area wise, basicly you have Europe, Asia, USA and Korea.
So for example in the Europe one you would have as Child Boards:
A, D, F, I, L, M, P and S
For USA
A, E and N
Japan:
A and J
Korea:
A, K, Q and T
BTW I just found out Itallian is a region to :D and Spanish :D
Well, those defenitely wouldn't be sub forums.. they have to be clearly markered like ("The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past [JADF] (French version)")
Basically it could already happen that even disc based games have German/French only version just as of now no such game exists.
For Korea: admittedly I haven't seen anyone requesting Korea boards yet so I didn't care. With Europe, North America and Japan I guess the major regions are covered (admittedly Japan consoles are also sold in Singapore, Taiwan or Hong Kong if I recall correctly but well, it's kinda the same that according to Nintendo, Australia belongs to Europe ;) ) - the few Korean users here were more interested in getting their Korea Wiis converted to US Wiis ^^
Im new to Gecko OS app. I have used it in my Homebrew Channel for most import games. I heard you can use Ocarina for VC and Wiiware games using Gecko OS. Yet, I dont know how to get the cheats to work. I got Gecko OS 1.9.1, yet im still puzzled on how you get Ocarina codes to work for VC and Wiiware games. Any help would be really great. Thank you.
You use Gecko OS 1.9.1 for the WiiRD codes. In the options you can turn "SD Cheats" to YES. Then you just have to have the .gct file on the SD card with the rest of them like normal.
I do have SD Cheats set to YES. Everything I load up a channel it says "No SD Cheats found." Even though I have the gct. file on the SD card, somehow it doesnt find them. I tried finding a video on how to do it, but I couldnt find any.
The gct should be named NARE.gct
And what program did you use to create the gct?
I use the Code Manager for PC. It does fine for Wii titles, but nothing for VC or Wiiware. I tried numerous times, to no prevail. I tired saving it and putting it to my SD card and still "No SD Cheats Found." What am I doing wrong?
You're naming the file incorrectly. For WW and VC it will be the four (4) character ID then ".gct"
They also go into the codes/ directory.
That's the only reason it wouldn't be found.
I have done the 4 letter game code, still nothing, been storing it in the codes directory on my SD card. Its probably something simple Im forgetting. Cant get them to work. Im going to try again, see if there is something im forgetting to do.
If you can take a video of starting the game when trying to use codes, that might be your best bet at getting help.
I am having a similar problem....
How do I get the code to work when this game is a wad channel on my wii screen?
Background info of what I have done:
1. used codemgr to get the gct and placed it in codes folder on sd root (like normal)
2. HB channel is using Using Gecko 1.9 (.elf)
3. On Gecko screen I press Launch Game but it says "ERROR No DVD Found"
4 so I try Launch Channel on gecko screen, it says "ERROR Getting Channel List"
3. Gecko options are set to sd cheats YES
4. Gecko Language is default
What am I missing? I have NTSC Wii 3.4U I hope I don't need to downgrade the wii version
EDIT: I tried the iso63 route but no luck so i just downgraded and now all codes for wii and wiiware are working. Problem Solved!

Is the game you're testing LoZ: Majora's Mask?
