Title: GeckoOS Gamecube memory card backup error -5
Post by: sakura89 on March 26, 2009, 08:25:11 PM
Using geckocard.exe, I keep running into error -5 (can't mount memory card, exi i/o error) when trying to back up/restore saves from official gamecube memory cards. So far it's working perfectly with 3rd party cards, the error only occurs with official cards. Is there anything I can do, or are official memory cards not supported yet?

The Wii homebrew programs that are intended for GC MC backup do not support 1st party cards. There seems to be some locking/encrypted data (I think). It's entierly possible that this also applies to what you're using.

hm.. I thought it would be the exact opposite.. often 3rd party card just failed.. however it seems to me libogc only supports 54 block and ~256 block cards (do not know the exact sizes anymore).

The first party cards arent supported by any homebrew afaik. GC backup launcher and Gecko OS cannot use 1st party nintendo cards :|

I think nuke or wiigator did say it was encryption
