Title: Codes Not Working
Post by: poisonpoint on January 03, 2009, 04:30:40 AM
Ok. I have the Homebrew channel succesfully installed on my Wii. Gecko OS and Ocarina appear on the homebrew channel when loaded from my SD Card (Kingston SD).  I save the codes via the Ocarina Cheat Code Manager through File -> Export to GCT.  These files are saved on the SD card in the Codes folder.  Whenever I load the game via Gecko OS or Ocarina, it displays the message "Codes found! Applying codes!" but when the game starts, the codes are not active.

For reference, the codes I was testing are the following:
Animal Crossing: City Folk [RUUE01]
Sprint Faster:
04138E58 93FA1134

and the Free Camera code for SSBB.

Both codes were for the (USA) versions.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

My Wii is version 3.4, but I am using the updated Twilight hack.

I think you have to do it through the rebooter but, since you have 3.4 the booter won't work.

You don't need to use the rebooter for those codes.
Are you sure you copied the codes properly?

I'm almost positive you don't need the rebooter.

I've tried various things, but I still can't get any code at all to work.

Contents of my SD card:

apps folder
>GeckoOS107b
>>boot.dol
>>icon.png
>>meta.xml
>ocarina
>>boot.dol
>>icon.png
>>meta.xml

codes folder
>RUUE01.gct

boot.dol

private folder
>wii
>>title
>>>rzde
>>>>data.bin
>>>rzdj
>>>>data.bin
>>>rzdp
>>>>data.bin

The homebrew channel displays succesfully on the Wii channel menu.
I select the homebrew channel and click start. Everything loads.
Two choices appear: Gecko OS (1.07) and Ocarina. I choose Gecko OS.
The menu displays correctly.
Configuration settings are as follows:
Boot Language: Console Default
Force PAL60: NO
Force NTSC: NO
Force PAL50: NO
VIDTV Patch: NO
Hook Type: VI (Default)
Ocarina On: YES

I return to the main menu and load the game.  It displays the Codes found- Applying code list! message before a green screen flashes and the game begins.
However, when I load the game none of the codes work.
The game is a legit copy.

Hopefully this will be enough information to help solve the problem.

Are you 100% sure you have codes for your system and that you copied them correctly?

Yes, most of the codes that I tried came directly from the sample codes included in the code manager folder.  I opened the text file from that directly into the code manager, but it still didn't work.

EDIT: Would using a Micro SD Card fitted into an SD Adapter cause any problems?

I use a Micro SD with SD adapter so that couldnt be the problem.

That is not a Sprint Faster code as far as I know. Double check the codes you used.

I just downloaded the code package from the gecko site and none of those work either, so I don't think that was the problem.

Try changing the hooktype in geckoOs.

I tried several of the codes listed for the game, and not only can I not order everything from the catalog like the unorderables, but the game freezes when I try to change the music in my house.  If anybody can  help with this, that's great.  Also when I try to drop money from my pockets, I get an apple with japanese lettering that is a leaf and not a moneybag..nook won't buy it and it doesn't go back into my inventory...I'm new to this whole thing and I'm wondering if I got a bad code?

I'm having the same issues to the letter that PP is having.

I also went through someone who uses Homebrew and the codes that I used worked for him.

Is it an issue with 3.4? Since I am at my wits end.
HELP

Ok, some of the codes and problems mentioned do not work

Here's a good test, use the have 99 bells code. It works fine everytime for me with no bugs.
