Title: Gecko/Ocarina error
Post by: Mini Mii on December 25, 2008, 01:28:43 AM
Well, I haven't used Homebrew for a while, but today I decided to make another moveswap.. Well, I loaded homebrew, and there was some sort of update.. So I clicked it and went through it. When I finished, everything looked the same, but when I went to Gecko OS 1.07 B and tried to load it, it said "(X) Error. This is not a valid Wii application" It also says this for the Homebrew Browser and Ocarina.

I have not updated my Wii menu since I installed Homebrew. It has worked fine up until this point.

Anyone know what's wrong? :( Thanks.

No, this is actually the Homebrew Channel update that causes this problem. It refuses to load old ELF files, including Gecko OS.

To fix this, download the latest version of Gecko OS, and use the main.dol found in the DOL folder. If you want to set it up on your SD card, then remove boot.elf from the Gecko OS folder of your SD card, rename main.dol to boot.dol, and put boot.dol on your SD card in the Gecko OS folder.

To prevent this problem in the future, use .dol versions of homebrew whenever possible.
