Title: I need some kind of "tutorial".
Post by: Kinggamer on December 09, 2008, 08:01:19 PM
I've read that with WiiRD you can cheat on GCN games and put their style of the codes (xxxx-xxxx-xxxxx instead of xxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx). The problem is that i'm new with those things and i don't know what i need and how to install them. I have a Wii (of course), what i have to do if i want to run SSBM (super smash brother melee) in it and using the AR codes that i've wanted or selected ? What i have to do to arrive at this point ? I would like to do the same as the ocarina aplication but with the GCN games and their type of codes (cause ocarina don't recognise xxxx-xxxx-xxxxx format codes and don't let you select).
Thanks.

Decrypt the GCN codes using GCNcrypt (http://kikiki1b.googlepages.com/GCNcrypt-v1_5.zip), then convert them to WiiRd codetypes using James0x57's GCN AR to WiiRd Codetype Converter (http://gcn.jaytheham.com/ARtoWiiRD_v0.9.zip). That's all you have to do.

WiiRd won't accept any GCN AR codetypes (neither decrypted nor encrypted), it will only accept WiiRd codetypes.

Thank you very much. With this i will be able to use the GCN AR cheats with ocarina app. in SSBM ?
I have a problem: with the GCN AR to WiiRd cdetype converter, every time i enter a decrypted AR GCN code and click on "conver codetypes" it doesn't convert it because it says the following:

REMEMBER: When you Convert
these codes YOU DO NOT GET
CREDIT FOR THE CODE, it's
the EXACT SAME CODE that it
was for GameCube AR which a
hacker spent his/her time
on creating!!

REMEMBER: When you Convert

the EXACT SAME CODE that it

on creating!!

Can you give me an example please ? Thanks.

FYI, Ocarina cheats are not yet supported for GameCube games, and the Wii version of GeckoOS does not work with GameCube games yet.  So even if you convert the codes to WiiRD format, you'll need the GameCube version of GeckoOS and a USB Gecko.

If you don't want to buy a USB Gecko, and you just want a free Action Replay alternative, I'd recommend Fuzziqer Software's GCARS-CS 0.9.5.  See http://www.fuzziqersoftware.com.  It's a GameCube homebrew program that lets you use decrypted AR codes (it uses AR code types, not WiiRD code types).  If you're using a real GameCube (not Wii), it also allows you to load new cheats through Ethernet without typing them in on an on-screen keyboard, and also allows you to play a few GameCube games online (supports Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Ikaruga, and a few others).  The cheats themselves should work fine on a Wii (assuming you have a way of loading GameCube homebrew).

What i have to do to install and run this ? i don't have the gamecube homebrew launcher because i don't know too how to install it, and i've read that there's a risk to crash the console permanently.
Title: Re: I need some kind of "tutorial".

@Kinggamer: Those are decrypted already (xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx format). :P Also, I didn't realise you thought you could use Ocarina for GC games, you cannot do so like biolizard said. You would need a USB Gecko and a method of loading Gamecube Homebrew to use codes on Gamecube games.

What firmware do you have on your Wii (3.2, 3.3, etc.)?
Title: Re: I need some kind of "tutorial".
Post by: Kinggamer on December 10, 2008, 11:21:36 PM
I have the 3.4 firmware but i'm thinking in formating the Wii to delete this version, because i think that you start with an older version before clicking on "update". I'm getting an action replay, but not the newest version, the one that you can put codes in it . And yes, that was my purpose, i'll try anyways.

Post by: hawkeye2777 on December 10, 2008, 11:32:01 PM
That's unfortunate... if you had 3.3v1 or lower, you could 'downgrade' your MIOS to use the old AR on the Wii (I did so myself last night; I have 3.2). If you have a Gamecube though, using that old AR won't be a problem. ;)
Title: Re: I need some kind of "tutorial".
Post by: Kinggamer on December 11, 2008, 12:32:35 AM
Yes, the version of the Action replay is the 1.14 (I bought it online so in a couple of days i suppose i will have it because the product is from USA and i'm from Spain :P). I think there's another of 1.19 version and the newest one that says that works with wii that is the 1.20 version (wich you couldn't add codes).
Once i have action replay, hope it works . I remember updating the Wii, but was my brother, so i will format the Wii and i will have an older firmware. Finally, how i can downgrade mi MIOS ? What are the MIOS ?

just a comment on your tutorial. why delete MIOSv5 and risk losing GC support when you can install MIOSv4 and not delete v5 and still have both working ?

i've done it myself so i know it works, both are in my system and AR works fine.

WUFE is nice for getting the MIOS or just use this app for PC to get the file from nintendo's server:

I couldn't install MIOSv4 without deleting v5. Why? I don't know, but it did work both ways after I did.

Besides, a disc update can always restore MIOS if something goes wrong.
Title: Re: I need some kind of "tutorial".
Post by: hetoan2 on December 11, 2008, 11:43:03 AM
with v5 it has improved support for many 3rd party games that didn't work before, it also has something to do with multidisk games, so if you want the only missing feature in v4 just install it.

if something does go wrong with installing it so that it's corrupt or whatnot you'd have to use anytitle deleter first also otherwise your disk will think it has the update.

also just tried it doesn't require the GC MIOS update it's just there for extra stuff on the update.

just like in ACCF you can install IOS 38 and nothing else on the disk that will fix old IOS's and it will still think you did the whole update. i think it only checks for what is necessary for your game to run.

For some reason when i finished typing that something didn't feel right and i don't have time to check it so if i said something stupid.... it's cuz i had to leave :|

Does matter what firmware i have before installing that ? i cannot see this page because i have to register, but cannot complete the registration because the imagen verification of six letters doesn't appear (it only appears the typical "X" when the image doesn't exists). Can you send me the tutorial please ? thanks.

You'll need 3.3v1 or older. I don't think 3.3v2 and above will work (due to the Signing bug being patched).

Thanks, now i can see the tutorial. I don't understand this: Next, download the AnyTitle Deleter from here. You'll be running this first. Now, run it and delete the copy of MIOS that is on your system. Where i have to put those files in the SD card ? MIOS is a file that have all the Wii games ? I cannot find MIOSv4 to download, wherei can find it ? Thanks.

I'm getting an action replay, but not the newest version, the one that you can put codes in it . And yes, that was my purpose, i'll try anyways.

Formatting the wii does NOT change the firmware.
It only deletes saves, channels, and settings.

That's not true because formating it deletes the updates. The old action replay would work with Gecko Os that have gamecube mode or GCbooter :D.

Lol? Then why do people have to download warez to downgrade? Formatting the wii does NOT remove the update, go try it for yourself...

thats a linux application for your PC. First you must compile it to an .ELF for your PC (not wii) and then you can run it to get the updates :D.... too bad i don't have linux.... yet....

How i can do this ?

EDIT: Thank you very much all of you, i love you ! now i have the 3.2 version and i can proceed to the tutorial to have the action replay working in the Wii ! I have a question: when i'm inside the "any title deleter" application it says the following:

informing Wii that i'm a god....Error! ES_Identify (ret - -1017).

I press A, the following appears:

Error! ISFS_Delete(ret - -102), and
Fulling Sysmenu TMD...Error! ISFS_Open (ret - -102) Reading TMD failed !
Error! ES_OpenContent (ret - -1017),

i press A and says:

Region detection failure! 0 cONF REGION:2.

I press "A" again and finally i can access to the menu. I enter inside the "system titles" menu ( in the tutorial says that i have to remove the copy of the MIOS that is inside the system menu) so i look for the "MIOS" and the file is: 00000101 (MIOS), the rest are IOS. I think that this is the file i have to remove (because there's no other MIOS files in the other menu's) so i press "A" to uninstall and says the following:

Ticket delete failed (Mo ticket?) -102
                       -Deleting title file /title/00000001/00000101...
Error! ISFS_Delete(ret - -102)
Press any key...
And then exits to the menu without deleting the file.
So i decided to install directly the MIOSv4 with wad manager, and i've installed it ! Thats all ? AR will work now ?
