Title: Does Rebooter require Gecko?
Post by: yoshicircuit on November 30, 2008, 08:56:05 PM
I just recently got Gecko OS, and I was so relieved that it turned out Ocarina wasn't COMPLETELY discontinued, after all. But I ask this- does gecko's rebooter require any extra hardware? I was looking forward to cheating on Masterpieces, but...

No, the Rebooter option of GeckoOS does not require any extra hardware.  However, if your firmware is at '3.3V2' or higher, it will no longer work.

I recently got the 3.3 safe update in the homebrew channel browser thing, thats not V2 right?

I'm not sure what you mean.  Did you update your Wii firmware on or after October 23?  If so, the Rebooter function of GeckoOS will no longer work.  If you have not updated since then, it should still work.

Acctualy wasn't homebrew browser I got the update from. (I forgot, it wasn't from Nintendo officialy) so I just checked my rebooter now & it seems to be working.

So I probably have V1.

I'm guessing that you are referring to the Wii Shop and IOS51 Installer.  Anyway, you have '3.3V1'.  If you had version two or higher, you would get an error about not being able to load the System Menu with the Rebooter.
