bump, some usb gecko user must have vista..
guys this is weird i dont know who amde these posts
but hey theyre true, i do need help installing usb gecko on vista, i told my little brother to try while i was on holiday but yh, he sux at it worse than me
and OMG IM A FULL MEMBER!!WOOHOO XD
I have it on Vista, and I installed it on my first try. The driver installed by itself when I connected the USB Gecko to Wii and Laptop. A balloon popped up saying something about installing a driver, so I clicked it and it installed on its own. Then I just downloaded the WiiRD GUI, and it works fine, with the exception of occasional GUI crashes when I try the Memory Viewer.

Same for me except that last part about the Memory Viewer.
First of all.. unfortunately USB Gecko software was created on 2000 and XP machines.. I did quick tests on Windows Server 2008 because in the beginning Windows Vista didn't even work at all. However, my evaluation expired, I currently have NO WAY to get Vista except for buying and I simply do not want to invest money in an Operating System I didn't like after 6 month evaluation.
Sooo.. for drivers: please try to upgrade your drivers using the drivers from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm - the USB Gecko will be listed as USB Serial Converter in your device manager, do not search for USB Gecko or related.
For the memory viewer: when I tested that under WIndows 2008 back then, it worked.. sorry but as of now we're unable to reconstruct the problems.
I'm using it on Vista 64bit without any problems, I just let Vista install the drivers it wanted to and it worked.
wait wait, when you put it in, it says installing driver hardware/software or drivers or something like that right? and it doesnt give you an option to choose which driver to install right? once its done it works perectly right? RIGHT?
lol sorry
but how do u test if the usbgecko works or not? does it involve plugging your wii?
plug it into your Wii.. and test.. that might give you the idea!
