Title: Question About Burning Wii Games
Post by: Dark Boy on November 24, 2008, 10:03:03 AM
I was wondering, do we HAVE to have a Modchip installed to run DVD Burned-Wii Games? I saw videos on YouTube saying its possible WITHOUT a Modchip. I have to use Minimal hacking efforts on my Wii because its the families.

EDIT:
I just read that I think I can with Gecko OS and re-booting. And mentioned somewhere I remember someone saying that they could downgrade to v3.3 from v3.3.2 (Animal Crossing Update) so the Re-Boot would work. LINKS PLEASE.

I can't wait to burn Mario Kart Wii. I want it SOOO bad.

I don't know if I can answer, but yes, you can. Search for Softchip on google. It's an open source software mod. You have to install also a custom IOS.

It not possible to load backups from Gecko OS, someone took the sourcecode and modified it so it reads backups.
This forum does NOT support that program

You don't need DVDx. You need a cIOS, it's mandatory. A cIOS is a modified version of the Wii IOS and it will install itself on the Wii NAND, so BE CAREFULL if you ever try this.  It will work with 3.3.2u, but prepare to do things like downgrading and so (if you brick your wii... your fault! ;) ). I suggest you use google and search Softchip (completely opensource and different from Gamma Loader) or Gamma Loader (this one is the unauthorized modification of GeckoOS). Or try gbatemp.net (better).

If mod think thats my post is "too much", feel free to delete it. I think i'm in the rules...

Dun dun dun...

Backups are nice, but Igglyboo has a point. This whole concept of making copies of games is whats making Nintendo tackle our asses down.
