I'm not sure what you are asking, but if you wanted to, you could just download and install the Wii Shop and IOS51 installer (http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Shop_and_IOS51_installer) to gain access to the Wii Shop Channel, and not have to update.  As of right now, there is really no point in updating officially through Nintendo.

If you are running it through the Homebrew Channel, then you need to open the 'apps' folder on the SD card, and create another folder.  Inside that folder, place the installer file (DOL file) inside of that folder, and if necessary, rename it to 'boot.dol'.  The version by Tona will place the signing bug into IOS51 if you choose, while Muzer's version will not.

I have never used the Homebrew Browser, so I don't know.  However, I don't think that it is.
