Title: Signal for Code-Activation possible?
Post by: lindtec on November 07, 2008, 01:09:46 PM
Hello everyone

Is it possible, to play a sound or show a text, that indicates, that a codes was activated (or deactivated)?
Is there something like a general wii-sound-libary, where you can point to, so that it plays the same sound
in every game?

Hope it's possible and someone has an idea, how to do this...

Though it may be possible, I'm guessing it'd be more trouble than it's worth.

That sounds good enough for me.
Can you tell me, how I can do that?

Just alter some text or something on the HUD, or start menu. Do this by simply searching that text and modifying it, so that like on the pause menu of a game instead of RESUME GAME, you have CODES: ON or CODES: OFF you get the idea.

Well, I thought of something like that too, although I would prefer, if it were ingame (some games don't have any ingame-hud-text).

On that note. Could it be possible to change the "Your Battery is low"-Warning to something else and let it flash once?
Or ist that controled by the wii itself and not the game?

Another thought was to send a vibration-command to the wiimote. But I'll try the simpler stuff first.

the lowbattery warning is coming from the game (I think) because some low-battery warnings have not the standard warning (like in MySims)

but does the text has to be the same lenght?

I experimented with this, and I made a code that shows the no communication message and replaces the text with the code activation text
The other text is Dutch :P
Hey, thats cool...

Do you think, the text in the box (the dutch one) could be changed too (like a description of the code)?

Did you do that with the rebooter-option of Gecko-OS or just normaly running the game with Gecko-OS?

http://www.easycalculation.com/ascii-hex.php (http://www.easycalculation.com/ascii-hex.php)

Would that work? Convert the word you are looking for and search for that value?

Thanks Panda On Smack, I'll test it, as soon, as I get back to my wii.

EDIT:

In case someone wants an offline-ascii-hex-converter:

http://bluefive.pair.com/hexwrite.htm (http://bluefive.pair.com/hexwrite.htm)

It's freeware and does its job...

yeah, the little text could be canged too, i just searched for the text that was in there (with memory viewer) and it was in mem2.
there was a lot of text, I think it was all the text that the game uses.
then I did a couple of equal/not equal searches of the text being displayer or not.
Then I made a button activator that changed the text and showed the text.
:D

Just curious, how many lines has your code?...

Since each character should be 8bit of hex, You would need a codeline for every 4 characters of text.
