Title: VC Hacking
Post by: Igglyboo on October 11, 2008, 01:08:58 AM
Ok, before you start to flame me because everyone asks about this hold on.
I am wondering if a USB GECKO can hack the VC with the rebooter.
I know that gecko OS cannot upload codes in the VC atm.
Can i hack my own codes with a usb gecko with the rebooter currently?

*PS*
If this is possible, is it the same memory ranges as normal games?

Yes, you just can't run code. You can Poke, search, set breakpoints, etc... but even if you upload the code list with WiiRd they won't run. At least that's how I understand it. You can how ever run codes on the VC game from Brawl.

No, you can't do anything with any VC games except the ones in SSBB.  Currently Gecko OS loses its hook when you enter a channel.

You sure about that? I'm pretty sure that Gecko OS doesn't ever loose its hook now, and that the only reason that you can't use code is the code manager won't run until a game is loaded.

Yes, I'm certain.  Nuke has mentioned that VC games don't work yet several times as well.

so all we need to do is enable Gecko OS to be able to stay "hooked" during a VC/WiiWare load, right?  I'd love to contribute to this, where to we get started?

so, who are you talking to, hetoan 2?  I assume not to me because your answer makes not sense to my question.

anyways, so I think we should get this going!  This could produce a greater support for homebrew and Gecko OS/USB Gecko.  Like I said before, I don't know much about the language used, but I passed my high school programming classes (C++ and BASIC) so I have some experience.  I doesn't sound too hard.  How do you get in touch with the original creators...maybe I'll just look it up...
