Title: Problem with Rebooter mode of Gecko OS 1.07
Post by: CashMan on September 17, 2008, 06:34:37 PM
Hello,

I have an problem with the Rebooter mode of Gecko OS 1.07. When I return to the Wii Menu, the Wii Game is blocked in drive and it's a lot of noise. I must shutdown the Wii. Can you help me or correct this bug ?

Thanks,

It'd be nice knowing which game doesn't hook.

also, for some reasons the configurations of the rebooter are set to NO, including the freeloading option. if the Wii is trying to load a disc it can't read you can't outsert it and you'll experience the things you've seen.

Indeed provide as much info as possible :
What region is your wii ?
What version (3.2,3.3...) ?
What game are you using (name, region...) ?

Did you use apps like Starfall to down grade your Firmware from 3.3E to 3.2E
Did you have this problem before you downgraded the Firmware..

Yes, I use cIOS Downgrader 1.2 for downgrade my Wii from 3.3E to 3.2E

With other games it works but if I use One piece : Unlimited Adventure USA Version in my Wii PAL i have a lot of noise and the DVD is blocked in drive.

I see you have a wiikey you do know you can play other region Wii games with it
not using GecoOS.
Or are you using the codes for Ocarina from the NTSC JP region on a NTSC-US game.

A recap
You can play the game with Gecko OS 1.07 but when you go back to the wii menu the Game is blocked and it makes a lot of noise.

Have you tried the "Wii pad" hook type, in geckoos options, before starting the game.
Dose this happen just with GeckoOS 1.07
Is GeckoOS 1.6 ok.

Sorry but i am out of ides but the Game has been
reported to work with a older GecoOS by Neo Shadow

Neo Shadow tested One Piece Unlimited Adventure (NTSC) on Wii PAL and it works

So I don't know... Did you enable the freeloader in the rebooter options (it's off by default) ?

You said "This problem is present with any Wii Games", and then "With other games it works but if I use One piece "...

Which is true ? All games have a problem ? Or only One Piece ?

Did you try different US/JP games ? Did they work ?

Yes I have enabled the free loader in the rebooter options.
Only One Piece has got the problem ;)
I have a single import game ;)

Also, you said it's for a friend.
The game works for you, but not for your friend ?
And you said you downgraded from 3.3E to 3.2E. But you're talking about your friend's wii, right ? So you friend's Wii was 3.3E, and it's now 3.2E ?
Maybe it's the downgrade that caused a problem...

No, i don't tested the game of my friend on my Wii.
My friend has downgraded from 3.2E but when he was 3.3E always the same problem.

Figured that I should post my problem here as well, as I have a similar one...

Region:  NTSC
Firmware:  3.0U
Game:  Super Smash Brothers Brawl NTSC

When I try to load this game through the Rebooter mode, all that I ever get is a black screen after I try to start it through the Disc Channel.  The game loads without any problems when loaded through GeckoOS.  The banner will load on the Disc Channel, but I can't get any further than that.

Rebooter mode is only supposed to work for 3.2 and 3.3 based firmwares. I do not think it can handle 3.0.

Yeah, I figured that after I posted the message.  Just curious, but why would it work through GeckoOS and not the Rebooter?

I guess that most of the codes do not require the Rebooter anyway, so it doesn't make much of a difference.  Thanks for the response!

Rebooter really means that Gecko OS boots your Wii menu and patches it.. this increases compatibility with many games. However, as long as games do not require the Wii Menu boot sequence, you can safely direct boot using Gecko OS (direct boot). Otherwise you can update your Wii to 3.2 using the system files from bushing's semi brick fix disc and install them using the WAD manager.

Thanks for the responses.  No, I have never used anything like the downgrader.  I guess there is probably no problem with updating, as long as I just stay away from 3.3 and above.
